My Win7 system refuses to dl the linked zip. Even a local copy of this zip was auto-deleted with a virus warning!

Is my system borked or is the dl file broken/infected?

I do have idea's for a sideborder based gfx mode (MCOLI-HD) and planning the user to be able to import sprite data when required. Although this would be trucolor images before conversion. Just a bit of tinkering and removing the color mixing/conversion facilities, the user can import premade photoshop images

@deekay The spritecolors are individual for each column and can be calculated via the converter or manually changed.

algo: Are the spritecolors individual for each column? Like with TCH's UFLI v2.0 editor!... Or do you choose one global color, like the multicolors?

Gotta second Joe's plea for the bordergfx-editor! ;-D Though Xbow's not gonna do it (at least not on PC!)

Still I'd love either you, Crossbow or Lars and Oswald? to finish off that simple pc/mac editor with sprites overlay/underlay (Timanthes works like a charm though) full border (if needed) editor for us Multicolored bitmapers :)

There is a lot of improvement to be made in the mucsu fli converter however. At the moment the two universal sprite colors are chosen based on the error difference between the whole picture.
As you know this is not a great method as there may be prominent areas of the image to concentrate upon allowing more errors in other areas that are not so important. Hence for the time being if the converted image does not look great. Switch to manual mode and set the colors separately.
It's easy to implement a weighing scheme where areas can be selected at 100% importance. Some at 50% etc. But the converter generally gives decent results regardless. Furthermore sprite x positions could have been shifted to generate less error.

Very impressive, and quite some effort for this one-man machine. Respect also for Deekay who openly compares it with NUFLI with no hard feelings

Yes. I was looking at one of the demo parts in Demus interruptus. (the part with the sprite overlay logo and angel fli pic) and was the idea for the converter. The cherry boom pic in mucsu fli is already on csdb and converts rather well. This is in the mucsu fli preview entry

Very nice, Algo, so you finally married xbow's 5-sprite-FLI-routine with your converter! ;-) This has 2 major benefits over NUFLI: Multicolor Sprites and full FLI, which should help quite a bit with conversion errors! There are some pictures (like Leon's Wanderer or Cherry Cherry Boom Boom from Mirage) that showed heavy artifacts when converted with Mufflon due to very dense color usage, I do wonder how these render in this mode...
Ofcourse, the resolution is lower and you get the grey spritebug to the left, but still this should work really well for a lot of pictures!

Yes. The inclusion of FLI per line gives far more fidelity. The routine can actually display 296x160 (with standard AFLI in last 5 columns. but the last three columns were ommitted to centre the image.
