I've uploaded mikrobitti_pink_floyd.d64 containing the typed-in basic listings from Mikrobitti 5/86 mag and the binary files which they generate when run.
The first file "pink-floyd" even contains some data after $0400 that looks like text from a game, so it's obviously corrupted and it's pretty lame that it was even published in the magazine. It helped the tool getting widespread in Finland though, so I thought this might be of interest.
The second file " pink floyd" is shorter (better) than tlr's and Flotsam's - it doesn't extend over $D000. The NOPs in the end of file may be there because of the data format used in the basic listings, so can't say if even this file is true original or not. | User Comment Submitted by Flotsam on 29 December 2022
@tlr There was a listing + an analysis of Pink Floyd on a popular Finnish magazine Mikrobitti, issue 5/86. Most versions of Pink Floyd seem to derive from that article. I checked my old dumps and they contain two different variations with different random garbage of different length from $d000 on and both have the signature NOPs that are in the type-in. The article has two writers (neither of them being PP) and they kind of lead the reader to believe that they've written the loader themselves. This was discussed @ald Discord and Yip confirmed that the original author of the loader really is PP, not the writers of the article.
Here's a screen shot of "__pink floyd" listing from Mikrobitti: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MQsCU205SFJ0IxqN6gU36w4qqLTCRk.. | User Comment Submitted by tlr on 28 December 2022
@flotsam: where was this published then? I've only ever had this version. | User Comment Submitted by Flotsam on 28 December 2022
The latter file "__pink floyd" has some random extra bytes in the end. It's supposed to end at $cfff with the NOPs. As it is, it now overwrites some sprite registers. The NOP's in the end were used for padding in a checksummed program listing and they are probably a sign of this being a typed-in-version (with added trash in the end) from 1986 instead of the true original. | User Comment Submitted by lemming on 1 July 2013 User Comment Submitted by Frantic on 12 February 2010
If I am not mistaken this was coded by the Finnish dude who was at Datastorm 2010. He also founded the (amiga) group accession. Anybody knows his handle? |
