@ian coog: i dont think im ignoring anyone il check again.

...You don't have anyone on your ignore list right now...

and if you dont wanna use it mate then thats fine and dandy with me fine no problem dont use it :) btw its not bugged it wont run on ians pc because he has far manager installed its a cmd hook addon which changes the way windows runs a command prompt ,i didnt even know that program existed tbh but because im a really generous soul i took the time to 'fix' it for you in 1.1 ,comming soon btw.

thewizard: if you write me a PM and then you ignore me I can't reply. Now I'll write my reply here.

I would be happy to check a new and better sidplayer, fact is that your exe doesn't work on my pc. And doesn't even restart once it crashes. I use Far manager all day long as it's my natural and only usable file manager, and for me it's just unacceptable that a program launched from it, or from a plain cmd.exe prompt, it closes the window and then doesn't restart anymore. I have to reboot to return to a usable state.
It's a usability problem for me, maybe the output is better, but I won't use a bugged program, that's all.

@eLK , totally understand that , im the same i listen mainly on my c64's i very rarely use an emulator.

btw the sidplay 2/w is a good player but it uses a 4 year old version of resid fp theres been a lot of changes/updates since then.
there is another player which i hear is quite good.
XMPlay SID Plugin Revision 25b

has problems with the same tunes sidplay 2/w cant play though where as wow will play them.

example paperboy.

or get a real c64 , bound to be some on ebay.

( yep one going on ebay now for £27 ) get a bid in lol

Good, I was waiting for something like this. The player which is using the new sidplay-fp - but I prefer simplicity. I prefer the SidPlay2.5w UI and also its settings. I understand you would like to build something interesting 3D sound and surround effect and so long.. I think the purists like me prefer the pure SID sound without any custom features :) A pity that SidPlay2.5w is not based on sidplay-fp - then it will be the best player for me..

@deekay , you can support as many sids as you wish , you probably be better off with a sid per speaker not only a voice.

example , 2 subtunes playing in sync in different channels/speakers.

@Isildur its possible but i dont think il do it , its just massive overkill and it will not make the slightest difference to the sound.

SID at 24bit/96KHz? Seriously?... That's EVEN MORE ridiculous than the usual audiophile esoterics! <:-)

Wizard: I *know*! That was the very reason I wanted this, I already had it all mapped out which voice to output to which speaker etc!...

Binaural? Fu*k yeah!

How about 24/96. I see switches in the INI but none is working.

@Deekay, the source code is out so maybe it won't be too long until we get a nice osx version? :)

its not actually pseudo stereo ( and yes i know what you meen but its not ), the sid has 3 channels mate stereo is possible on it but you have to 3 times a note to make it work and do it quick.

7.1 would be nicer i looked into a vst host type thingy , i got it working as well but scrapped it it sounded a bit too good sounded actually better than a real c64 sid with all the new fangled technology lol.

Ah, the pseudo-stereo of Pulseplayer taken a step further. I had the idea of blowing up SID to 5.1 many many years ago, and I approached mrsid with it, but he said that stereo is pointless already and that mono is the way to go! <:-) Now it's another windows-only feature, great!

realised why it might be not running on some pc's its the exe packer i used its old as anything i never packed it on beta tests , its an old p e compact .. i only packed it because my internets slow and i was trying to make it all as small as i could for upload ( on sky internet and its slow ) next version il repack with upx its a lot better with compatibility.

btw Nvitia:
thats probably because your not used to hearing it on a original c64 , sanxion sounds exactly like it does on a real c64 with the oldskool setting on , i got this as close as my 2 c64's sound.
ive got a old model with a 6581 and a horribly white n cream one ( got it off the car boot with a 1541 for £3 powerpack was broke though so i fixed it ) the other was in my mothers loft for years collecting dust and this sounds as close to a c64 as possible lads. probably why it sounds 'strange' lol you must be too used to the other emulator sounds , its as close to c64 as possible btw on a certain tune , listen to how it doesnt actually mute the channel , thats because the sid never actually had a no sound once its been poked.

i call it a glisteny white noise kinda thingy majig , dunno what you tech guys call it.

btw did we emulate a bird flying by flapping its wings when we decided to fly around the planet. nope we improved it and it does the same but better and faster , thats the whole thing with emulation dont emulate it exactly if its not it i noticed that in a few sections of the old resid fp.

i learnt a lot by doing this player about the c64 that i didnt know and i used to programme it back in the day , this old puter still amazes me even now.

the source is availabale to anyone who wants it btw , i think a group of us should get our heads together and really get this old chip emulation perfected , its a brilliant sound on it.

anyway enough rambling , enjoy the player peeps.

laters will

No problems here on Win 7 Ultimate. (unregistered)
Also thumb up for the 3D surround effects! :)

2SIDs don't seem to play all voices though, despite you've included one in the example playlist.

lol calm down ian .. ive only just finished it il upload the source as soon as i can ( my internets slow ) , its working on all the pc's its been tested on including external beta testermachines ( thanks btw you lot who tested it ) , on your pc ian its probably jpsoft tcc/le that is causing your issues pal.

sourcecode has been uploaded ( took ages my internets really slow ) feel free to drop me a pm and i will send you a link if anyone wants it just let me know.

and if anyone could upload it to sourceforge for me until i get faster internet, that would be great.

Makes bad mess with the cmd session where it's started, cmd window is closed, and i had to reboot after selecting the mixer, stops working and windows closes it, doesn't restart anymore. 20 seconds total usage before messing things.
Already too bugged for me. Not reccomended.
Also: where are the sources? Using sidplay as a base, which is GPL, forces you to 1) release sources 2) stop distributing it. Choose one.
