An incredibly beautiful demo with an excellent soundtrack. Masters at work.

The Danko tune lays out the foundations of a true C64 sounding demo track; not glossy, but pure perfection of that "C64 feeling". I load this demo again and again to have this feeling that brings me back to 20+ years ago.

Abaddon's tune is pure joy to listen over and over again. It is so rich in all ways, one can listen to it for hours.

Magnar's intro tune carries the feeling of power needed for a FLT demo. And the end tune is exactly how it should have been; joyous and grand.

For me, the peak moments of this demo are the dragonball part and where the panda enters the screen in scrolling screen of excellence. Pure C64 power.

Both the checkerboards and the scroller at night are very nice to watch as well.

Throughout the demo there are very nice and original transitions. Clearly lots of thought and effort went into this.

Thank you all who put effort into this demo.

Watching this demo still gives me the shiver. I will never forget the first time I saw it. Jag kissade nästan på mig. Effects and music in total harmony. Only made possible by "FLT - Svensk demoindustri"!

Keep coming back to this demo, and the Panda part.
Love the graphics AND the timing of the music when the Panda arrives on top :)

I can still hear the echoing "Färlajt! Färlajt! Färlajt!" from the live session at X. Great piece of art, FLT!

meckert: From CSDb Forums (see "Discuss this release" on the right):

Quote:
what works is to Check the setting "trigge disk change by removing sd card", then you can just remove the sd cad, insert it again, then mount disk 2 and it works.

Worked for me, too.

Very nice. Not even close to be top tech but how important to remind us what demos are all about!

I think, Abaddon's tune is fantastic.
Also Magnar's last tune is really fun. I liked the overall soundtrack as well.

I am a big fan of little animations (comet, smoke, blinking lights etc) in the Censor Scroller greetings part.

Voxel rotator looks really cute.

@Pantaloon: tnx!
Thumbs up for Magnar then, since I'm really fond of the end tune! :)

And great to hear something new from Danko again in general! \o/

Excellent demo, everything fits well and it feels as one good solid and enjoyable product! I'll never forget reading Louie's upscroller text at the party. What a great little story ;)

Are there any detailed credits? (Like, who did what tune especially)

Skate, good for you. I started experimenting with that part on pc a few weeks before BP after watching Motion(Origin2)/Bomb once again, but quickly put the code aside. I thought there was no rush since I hadnt seen it on c64 in the 16 years after the amiga demo was released.

I have seen this one 5 times now. I love the music, I love the style and graphics, I *very much love* the text in the end, but most of all this demo pumps what is most valuable for me in the scene: the fun of doing something together with friends, something new.
I am sorry I did not talk to all of you guys, it would be great to get to know you more!

A truly masterful work. A great demo. I will be watching this again soon. For some reason I really liked the subtlety of the anti-aliasing effect found on the "PLEASE WAIT" near the beginning of the demo.

Very nice, i liked this lots. Great design and variety in effects, it's little stuff like the falling foilage in the tree or the city in the background of the greetings-scroller (anyone else feels the spirit of Bob/Censor in this? 8) that make this demo great. Also the intro is quite nice, where FLT did some PC-Demodesign on c64 - works just nice, without feeling "shoehorned" into c64 limits, like so many other concepts that people took from the PC Demoscene over the years! ;-D
The Voxelrotator is great and innovative, the horizontal raycaster is finally hires - my only gripe with the one in the Glance demo! ;-D It's also got animated elements, big plus in my book!

I've just been told that this demo is actually not finished yet, which explains f.ex. why there seem to be fade-effects that go nowhere (the diagonal lines that expand to a black stripe - which just disappears), so I'm really looking forward to the 100% version! 8)

P.S: Danko's back! Fucking great! ;-D

Louie specifically asked for the x-rotator to run at 25 fps. I had already coded the hori-cast version which wasnt really made to do color-change-every-other-line but since Louie asked for the lower frame rate I didnt even try to make it full frame rate, so I can blame it on him ;)

And the single pixel resolution of the hori-cast part may make it look strange after watching the Glance version too much ;)

This was great! I love the humongous scrolling pictures (panda, endpart).
The oneframe vertical wolfenstein part was nice, and the rotate-around-one-axis voxel effects felt really fresh.

While the 3rd place has more impressive effects imho, this one wins with some clever and original transitions (although a bit slow paced, credits took a long even if the transition is nice idea). From the screens I remember to have loved the 3d panta and the great parallax scrolls but there must be more, gotta watch this again.

really nice demo from a strong team. I liked the rotating panda routine the best.

Some of the effects were slower than other implementations we have seen before (i.e. the x rotator at the beginning and the trailblazer at side b) but were still very good.

I personally did not like the hori-cast though. The movements of the camera were only along 90 degree angles most of the time, which made the effect look weird to my eyes (that may have to do with me seeing the Glance version a billion times and getting so used to it that any other movement looks wrong :) ). Although if the raycasting is done in realtime then i take my comment back and it is awesome.

Graphics and sound wise the demo was very strong. I also enjoyed the director-ship (if there is such a word) a lot.

Looking forward to more from you guys.

9 points +1 for Danko's music. Seen this demo on Youtube. 2 minute intro.. a little slow paced but in the end very good strong structured experience full of nice ideas and decent design without. ;-) This years X has proven that C64 scene spirit goes very deep into the hearth of the sceners of any generation and that we don't have to worry about the future. Ok, away with pathos. Good work!

Lovely demo. The best Fairlight demo for me, smooth effects, nicely put together with pleasant music+gfx. The floor/ceiling effect looks fantastic, much better than the Glance version even though it has no depth shading, but is hires and have some animated elements.

This is the fairlight I love. Nothing wrong with the slow-paced poetic demos, but this is imho better, especially in a compo.

Sometimes Fairlight gets worse places than they deserve. Yes, Offence beat them but still they are ahead of Booze+Instinct and Arsenic. So, this time I'm happy for them. They had a very high quality demo with great visuals. I always prefered demos like this from Fairlight instead of scene poetry demos.

yes - this is my personal number one in the compo. its just great to see danko having a comeback, and pantaloon coding awesome stuff. also i was not always a big fan of the flt style in the last couple years (exception is boogie factor). but now you have won back a true fan :)

Great to see one of my favourite groups from the early nineties (your legoland demos rocked) come to new strength again. Also good to see, that Pantaloon realized that c64 rules, and pc totally suxx. You are really learning fast... too fast! ;) And ofcourse having Danko back in the c64-scene is definitely the comeback of the year for me, you rock! I expect a lot from guys in the future. This will be a good decade of c64 scene coming up.
