@knoeki: you lost your bet, just see the basic sources. All basic with pokes/wait and some :::: fillers for timings. The only thing in asm is the irq setup for music in one of them, everything else is done without cheating with hidden asm in datas or preloaded in memory etc.

Ian: I bet that stuff uses DATA lines to poke the ASM into basic... which is not pure BASIC... and not my style either.

and who cares about effects? the only thing that matters is that it is enjoyable to watch =)

@2F: of course one can, but i fail to see any fancy code or visuals in this one.
@knoeki: these are what I call Basic demos. They're all previously unreleased stuff - at least for non italian users - made by Freedom/ex-HF aka MarC=ello/ex-Papposoft who left the scene for RL problems but showed me how it can be done.

I'm pretty sure you can create quite amazing basic-demos by only using some ML for the necessary functions. I mean, Gunship and Pirates was made in that way.

There are technical demos and there are stylish demos. Some pretty nicely styled demos have been released, without very stunning code.
8-Bit Terrorists has a nice style for a BASIC demo, even if it doesn't push the boundaries very far.

BASIC can be restrictive, but you can push BASIC even further, and create some amazing stuff, but not as amazing as assembly language.

Can you explain that? why would it be ridiculus? because it's BASIC and beat an Amiga and c64 demo? Did you even watch it?

anyways, your comment phailz. I don't mind people saying my prods are crap, but making senseless comments? like saying it's ridiculus without saying why (so I could work on it in the future).
