well, its probably about tastes then. but just look at his forehead, theres big patches of vertically aligned lines instead of 'correct' ditheringé. I also dislike all the pixels jumping around because of the randomness, instead of the steady dither that ordered could offer.

btw: anyone else think we really have come quite a long way since 1988? <:-)

What deekay mentioned. Another alternative would be the riersmima dither. Which can be good for delta packing. Error dispersion dither normally looks more messy in lores however depending on the strength of the dither

Oswald: there's no case where ordered dithering looks better in animation than Floyd! <:-) Ordered-/patterndither is pointless - unless you do elbg and need to save chars like Bitbreaker does for his video-via-Ethernet solution!... Ordered always generates static parts in the image, floyd not only doesn't, but even adds some kind of interlacing, which improves the video quality significantly..

really love it. would look cool in an accompanying demo.

Would look better with ordered dithering just like the dino, and with a highly optimized depacker it could run much much faster. (fex. skipping unchanged bitmap areas helps a lot)

Very nice! I made some similar tries a few years back: http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=46362, though I centered the animations so that it would feel more like a rotating head in space and not a rotated body with a head in space.
