Not sure what all the fuss is about. I already stated the source http://csdb.dk/release/?id=162966&show=notes#notes
I provided the original to "master" to fulfill this request. I have had confirmation from the requestor that the game is now played from start to end, and there are no bugs or glitches.
Crack or re-crack, converting a trackloader to a file loader still is a lot of effort. I tip my hat to "master" for doing this... on real hardware and apparently only a pair of 1541s and a SuperCPU.
To paraphrase "master" source "most crackers didn't find trackloaders so amusing...." "...this is why so few of them are actually ripped" |

Hard to say.. and a fair question.. I honestly don't know.
I can say MRR obtained permission from Master to use Master's work as base for the recent Easyflash releases.
MRR has also clearly stated Master's versions were used as source when filling requests.
Perhaps Groepaz can say which versions he used as source to crack the games?
As for it being a scene release?
I fully disagree, but then I also don't call for example a german only diskmag a scene release either..
That's my point of view, I know not everyone will agree, but that example gives you some insight in my view.

Nostalgia's Cinemaware collection has indeed Defender of the Crown, and it also has Rocket Ranger and Sinbad too, but both games are buggy in this collection.
And there's also Cinemaware's Three Stooges Nostalgia's member Tom-Cat prepared for EF release before six years (!), but we're still waiting for official Nostalgia release. |

| Easyflash scene will be pretty much dead without Master and Knight Rider releases. To have games working in EF format, they DO need to change game code, no matter if there are cracks or recracks. |

no. at least masters stuff are usually genuine cracks. i'd infact rate him one of the few proper crackers that are still active. unlike certain ppl whining about his releases.
and yes, these are definitely scene releases. scene releases are not defined by your shitty intro linking skills or whether someone adheres some funny first release nonsense in 2018. it also doesnt matter if anyone likes how these releases have been made and/or released.
(and i am not sure if i agree on adding peoples forums nicks as scener handles... i'd have a ridiculous collection of these by now. i doubt master gives a fuck though, so who cares) |

I can understand people wanting more games for EF.
But I wish those who do that, can at least state what version
of the game they used as a source.
Especially when they go to the lengths to remove intros, and change
loader, and perhaps even re-crunch files.
They say they are not part of the scene, yet they release the game to a public
forum.
Is it safe to say that all all Master and Mr19121970 releases should be marked as recracks? |

@Tim: I'm always happy if I can entertain ppl :) And I also appreciate ppl not caring too much about them 1337 cr4xX0rz rulez, though there was a time when I was beaten up for far less serious scene crimes, see Skate or Die! +D , back then it made me shrug, today, I don't care too much either.
However, I gave my opinion on how to deal with these releases as I know there's a flood of those on forum64 still waiting to end here sooner or later and thought, this was clear

Though it should be allowed to ask why patch an old crack with the original instead of just using the original, the credits are pretty clear in a CSDb-conform sense now.

I nearly peed myself on that one :)
This may come as a shock to you, but not everyone gives a shit about how things are sorted in CSDB..
For me personally.. as much as I put heart and soul into SCENE releases for decades, I could not care less about non-scene related uploads..
If csdb wants to have every piece of software ever produced for C64, be my guest.. knock yourself out, and categorize as you wish..
(It would help if there were proper categories to select from, but that's been said enough the last years)
It is what it is, I dropped a note because a few guys contacted me about it, that's all.
If it's not properly tagged, blaim whoever uploaded the files.. Groepaz should know how csdb works by now. |

I'd also prefer if the authors
- work with originals instead of recracking
- use some kind of intro, e.g. for giving credits esp. if it's a recrack
But who am I... and as you can't stop people from doing these somewhat anonymous-looking EF versions, I suggest - if they're based on other cracks -
just report in comments (as GRG did, maybe even link directly to recracked crack) and set the reckrack flag (<-which I just did). |

GRG, I can see you find these annoying, but this (and similar) are just conversions done for a German user forum on request from members there.
It's not scene related, Knight Rider is filling requests to convert X to Y.. but since CSDB wants to collect everything there you go, you get everything.
Thought I'd just let you (and others who've popped me a message at the same time) know why these are popping up here. |
