Is there any comparison on crunch efficiency? I'd need convincing before leaving Exomizer 3 as it's an integral part of my tool chain. I'd go for 90% on efficiency (leaving the smallest output) and only 10% on how fast it is. | User Comment Submitted by Richard on 26 March 2023
If you are a game coder who wants very quick decrunching, doesn't care about compression rate. Please visit the github site link on this page for future updates. I have been in touch with Antonio for suitable options for the cruncher, like restoring zeropages/kernal routines. I am really happy with the superspeed de-crunch routine, and features implemented and they fit nicely for my game projects.
Restoring zeropage:
tscrunch -x2 $jumpaddy myfile.prg mynewfile.prg | User Comment Submitted by GI-Joe on 26 March 2023
Thanks for the effort . It may be that the inplace- and the mem-cruncher works without problems but the sfx decruncher kills almost the whole zeropage which can lead to unpredictable effects. I got i.e. a "formular too complex error" after decrunching. The same sourcefile sfx-crunched with tinycrunch or with exomizer works fine cause their decrunch-routines work in the stack and leaves the zeropage almost completely alone. | User Comment Submitted by Strepto on 28 June 2022
This is super cool! Thank you! | User Comment Submitted by KAL_123 on 18 April 2022
Win32 compatible version would also be great, by the way. | User Comment Submitted by KAL_123 on 5 April 2022 User Comment Submitted by tonysavon on 5 April 2022
@dano
The three crunchers differ for the decrunching speed and the memory footprint. The extreme is faster than the regular which is faster than the small. But also the fastest decruncher, the larger the deceuncher code footprin. So it really depends on your usecase: if you can afford a whole page for the decruncher (which is the case, normally) just use the extreme version. | User Comment Submitted by Burglar on 5 April 2022
truly great work, Tony!
I also want to mention the drastic crunch-speed improvements in this version: over 30% faster :) | User Comment Submitted by Dano on 5 April 2022
May i ask what's the difference between the 3 decrunchers? | User Comment Submitted by tonysavon on 5 April 2022
This version changes the compression schema to improve crunching, and comes with three different decrunchers to better suit your speed / memory-footprint needs.
Thanks to Krill for pushing me to squeeze that one last CPU cycle out of the decruncher and for adding TSCrunch to the list of crunchers supported by the Krill Loader. |
