I love the design!
You guys are insane - 4k intro with samples must be a firstie on C64 (?)...

The idea for sample data storage and playback is just insane! I'm waiting for further iterations on the routine.

Sure, the inner loop is precisely 92 cycles of CPU time regardless of source pointer page crossings (well balanced!), which would lead to 10.7kHz - but that's with screen blanked, no sprites, and no interrupts.

Breakpoint at 090e though, and the song repeats every 6958224 cycles - in practice you're averaging a sample every 107.5 cycles, giving you a sneaky extra second of playback each time through :)

Nice sample splicing btw - I like the way the extra drum beat at the end of the third section is taken from the middle of the sample.

ChristipherJam, it’s actually 10,7 kHz, according to my calc in the source files ;)

Nice work guys, especially on the compressor. Great accompanying writeup, too.

A little cheeky claiming 11kHz mind - after a bit of a stickybeak in VICE I make it closer to 9.2 :)

Wicked, using c64 roms to unpack the sample. Interesting approach.
