I like the 3 levels of depth and the sense of warmth, captured with good colour choices. Excellent.

Thanks! Heheh, the "final piece" at Pixelation isn't the right final one (as Ptoing suggested me fixing some nasty aa issues afterwards (still, I didn't polish it to the very last pixel)); so maybe that's why it still generates some errors. What on to the tricks, yeah, finding some new ways to handle the restrictions is what makes working with them worthwhile. :)

This is a lovely piece, please do more :) i think you'll find there are still some 'tricks' to learn in 8x8x3 land, i know i still keep finding different ways of solving 'problems'

And i demand to know what happened to the 6 or 7 pixels that were not koala-compliant in your final piece at pixelation ;)

Thank you! Actually the face color scheme was built up basing on some of Mirage's ramps (after analyzing his artworks and studying color usage).
wile coyote: Everything here is pixel-pushed (ProMotion), fear not. I can show you a progress animation if you still doubt it.

Very nice picture. Composition and colours are coherent and give a warm southern states feeling. In my eyes some details relating colour transitions look a bit rough though (e.g. the mid grey and yellow/light red area in the face). Keep it up!

Wow! Thanks guys, never expected such a warm welcome!
Jammer: No, never been; heheh, basically the concept here is a little far-fetched, I must admit. :) What I have is only a lame ten years old hatchback, and all in all, I don't live in the countryside! The fact is, I had a massive problem with the background, just, you know, stuck in the middle, blank point, nothing to think about for some two days in a row! -- quite frustrating, no? And then, while listening to McLean's "American Pie", the lines: "I was a lonely teenage. . ." just popped up. So I went for it! :) I study American Language & Culture (Amerykanistyka), maybe that explains my inclinations. ;) Peace!!

Lovely. Just those stray yellow pixels on the forehead irritate me.
