If you look at the output with a spectrum analyzer, there is a clear peak at 13877Hz - which indeed is just high enough that some of us will no more hear it. Younger folks will certainly hear - and hate - it :) | User Comment Submitted by teloni0 on 29 July 2024
Very nice! I tested it on my U64 with dual sid (6581+8580). I hear some high frequency hisses. Maybe they could be cut... | User Comment Submitted by Raistlin on 29 July 2024
Yeah, I'm definitely hearing the high pitch tone. I don't get it through the TV .. but if I plug headphones in, it's there .. and it's definitely off-putting.
Sorry.. without the high pitch it all sounds fantastic. | User Comment Submitted by Hate Bush on 29 July 2024
which replay technique? it definitely needs a low pass filter | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 29 July 2024
I've added as comment 2 links relating to 2 tests I carried out on real hardware. I'm probably wrong but I don't hear any whistling, sorry. Have fun, guys | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 29 July 2024
I can confirm as well that yt recording also gives off strong high pitched tone. No bat hearing needed for this ;) If you need comparison - somewhere around fastest dentist drill tones :D | User Comment Submitted by apprentix on 29 July 2024 User Comment Submitted by ChristopherJam on 29 July 2024
What can I say, I must just be... Forever Young :)
Thanks for the release! | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 29 July 2024
Hi ChristopherJam. You are probably equipped with bionic ears or you have an ear more sensitive than that of a bat. For me this player sounds very good! Have fun | User Comment Submitted by ChristopherJam on 29 July 2024
MP Software, I'm afraid to say your hearing is going - the whine is very prominent on that youtube link you posted. I look forward to listening again when I am older (as it is, I can already happily share a room with my old 1084 that seems silent to me, but makes my young niece and nephew flee the room with their hands over their ears). | User Comment Submitted by Bieno on 28 July 2024 User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 28 July 2024 User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 28 July 2024 User Comment Submitted by Mixer on 28 July 2024
Good quality! And something for the bats as well. | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 28 July 2024
Many tests on a real machine tell me that the performance is better than many emulators I have tested.
Thanks guys, have fun! | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 28 July 2024
They are noisy because that sort of samples is noisy :D | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 28 July 2024
If the 'smart attach' doesn't work for you, you can try to set your VICE configuration to the factory settings.
GTK3VICE 3.5, 3.6.1, 3.7.1 and 3.8 works but are a little noisy. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 28 July 2024
Since its regular PCM digis, why even bother with whatever cant play them? Just delete whatever it is :) | User Comment Submitted by Max on 28 July 2024
Great track for sure, that frequency at 13.9 KHZ a bit of a screecher though ;) | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 28 July 2024
I'll probably update the list of emulators that work best when I release the next song! Stay tuned... | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 28 July 2024
You did something wrong for sure. | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 28 July 2024
From my initial tests it didn't seem to start. I'll try to update the summary as soon as possible. Thanks Ian Coog! :D | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 28 July 2024
What's the meaning of "don't start" in the summaries? It doesn't work for you? or "don't you dare starting it"? =)
It works ok in GTKVice 3.8 here, with smart attach, both 6581 adn 8580. Even less noisy than in Vice 3.2 for me. | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 28 July 2024
Unfortunately, not all emulators play songs correctly. This player is designed to run on a real Commodore 64 equipped with the 6581/8580 audio chip. | User Comment Submitted by E$G on 28 July 2024
check summary for best quality available | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 28 July 2024
tinnitus simulator, otherwise ok digi | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 28 July 2024
The player is made to work best on a real c64 and 6581/8580 audio chip. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 28 July 2024
Great quality but carrier squeak hits my ears hard :D |
