@ian: I was expecting a mute at PC side. I haven't thought it would affect the SID registers. It can even cause a crash that way. But I'm sure developers have an obvious reason (probably about performance).

Interesting side effect =) well, after thinking about it should be no wonder, if you LDA $D41B, the value you get depends on the SID emulation active in that moment. The "no sound" setting probably replaces the sid emulation with a minimal system which does very little, and in fact emulation becomes very faster with no sound, regardless of the selected SID emulation.

specially sound is great, good work pal.

btw, I found a very strange emulator behaviour. try to disable sound playback off at vice and you'll get what I mean.
