One more thing: Sounds great on (un)real hardware Stereo-in-SID, Double Mono 6581/8580, SAM(!)ples work out fine on both 6581/8580 here (checked them individually), the complaints might be due to filter features (either preferred re-SID choice on emulation or real ICs plus their environment), bottom line: Doing 6581 version ain't really worth to crack your head about imho as howsoever you tweak filter writes, e.g. to enhance SAM stuff, might also lead to other sounds suffering. | User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 30 June 2021
masterful aCID, epic, no matter whether it suits the compo | User Comment Submitted by deetsay on 18 June 2021
> SAM is pretty low volume though
Owch! It looks like it's strangely quiet on 6581, even though it's OK on 8580 (without sampleboost -- or does Ultimate64 have it built-in, I don't even know). I'll try to debug better and add a 6581 version.

This has just appeared on the tubes. I can't remember if it was really that short -- the last part with the craziest ringmods never even plays... And Virne can't remember either :-D. The full mp3-file was included though.

Thank you for this. I was as entertained as I was in early y2k, when I first listened to my fresh copy of "First Blood" album by Tero. Ever heard of him? :)
Seriously speaking, great job! Any chance to watch a capture of the demo anywhere? | User Comment Submitted by Mr. Mouse on 17 June 2021

That's an amazing effort. Cheers. | User Comment Submitted by Flex on 16 June 2021
Whenever HiRMU is involved it's thumbs up. Job well done, Deetsay! | User Comment Submitted by codise on 16 June 2021
I've been wanting / trying to find this SID/PRG for a long time. Thanks Deetsay for creating this. It sounds really close to the original recording. Now I can enjoy and play this tune to fellow sceners with real hardware. <3
Long live ACIIID! | User Comment Submitted by deetsay on 16 June 2021
You may be thinking "lazy bastard just slapped his own old tune in the compo", but this was actually a pretty big project consisting of:
1) Hunting down the *three* original randomly named DMC5 tunes from the floppy disks whereupon they were saved 22 years ago
2) Figuring out how to integrate the SAM speech between them (massive thanks to Groepaz for releasing the commented disassembly!)
3) Coding a bunch of changing parameters on the DMC tunes, which were originally tweaked while recording (I suppose this would be the "remastering" part ;-) )
The original PC demo only has a crappy MP3 recording.

I know it's not *exactly* what the compo was meant for, but it was done, because it needed to be. |
