@Ian Coog: Double post =) =). You make a great point about the nibble copied fake cracks. In my opinion, such "cracks" should just be deleted. I was affiliated with a group a while ago, which was taking on new members so rapidly, it no longer felt intimate and fun, plus I had no info or "final cut" in much of the crack production. I was given jobs, and then did them..the type of activity you expect to get paid for, not have fun with. So I quit. I wasn't sure if all the cracks were legit too, and some of my questions went unanswered. It concerned me. Another reason why I quit. Luckily, I still have good relationships with most of the members, including the organizer. I would hate to find out, that some or any such "cracks" I was asked to train were illegitimate in the manner to which you refer, yet I know I would not be directly personally responsible.

For that reason, I prefer to be in groups of 2-4 people or so, so we can all be on the "same page" so to speak. But, Ian...your words were wise and correct, yet when you tried to apply them to my Carbonite project (a demo of my own self-expression, not a crack) you were full of shit. So I guess neither one of us can be correct all of the time. =)

Nah, here we don't go again. It's fair game...and all in fun. That's what this place is for...fun. And I am having it.

My mind goes back to around 5 years ago. I read a document by a smarter than average Swedish coder, and in a couple weeks learn assembly and make my first semi-shitty intro. Then I'm asked to join a group soon after. Suddenly, lots of hazing and fools (including admins) fucking with me for no reason. So yeah, I learned to mind-fuck for fun from this place, not vice-versa. The categories aren't perfect, but I'm grateful for all you guys for trying. It must be a pretty cool database, since I keep coming back, over and over again. Like a moebius strip....twisted continuum/golden circle.

I kid, I kid, I joke, I joke. ....but it would be neato if there was a PD release section. In my opinion (not fact, mind you) I see a free unprotected game release as "PD/Public Domain" and wish there was such a category. Why would anyone from the cracking community want to take credit for a bunk crack in the first place?...set aside any database deficiencies.

Again this story? Should we have to read this at every fucking release from recent games? In the past there were even "cracks" that weren't cracked at all, just nibbled and with an intro linked to the loader, they were lame as much as you want but still "cracks" because there is no other classification for "introlinked releases with an eventual trainer" from cracking groups. =)

I had left two nasty comments, but it was my fault and my misunderstanding. I made a snap judgement before reading the whole scroll text. I apologize if I marginalized anyone's hard work in "Proud Lamers" or whatever it's called.

I do however, think it's lame to call something a "crack" is there is no copy protection which was broken (or even present in the first place).

I was around when the term "cracked software" was first coined, and it means the same now as it did then. Regardless of the opinion of the despots who decide policy here at CSDb, the fact is that anything labeled "crack" that didn't have to be cracked is a misnomer.
