Now that's a really, really neat and tidy pic that's right up my alley 馃槏
Also good to know that expanding PETSCII into the borders has been done before, as I've got something similar in mind for a logo 馃き | User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 7 November 2019
Way cool!
I agree it's gfx I disagree about sub genre PETSCII because of gpz old definition Quote:if you can PRINT it, it's PETSCII
I've never tried but consider it's hard to PRINT sprites in the borders ;) | User Comment Submitted by ChristopherJam on 7 November 2019 User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 7 November 2019 User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 6 November 2019
yeah PAL, love that part and the whole demo. and your Fantastic 4 bitmaps should stay in a Fantastic 4 demo :) | User Comment Submitted by PAL on 6 November 2019 User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 6 November 2019
now make the whole thing move in a wave like pattern :) | User Comment Submitted by Holy Moses on 6 November 2019
WOWERS... Lucky you are way better than me... COOL IDEA!!! | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 6 November 2019
We have to cut some slack in here like we do on most of music entries, some are proper one file demos, due to complex code of the displayers, this is one really complex code for displaying a petscii screen but I think we can still consider it a gfx entry, like most of the gfx entries that (ab)use the borders with sprites and rasterbars.
Else we should consider EVERYTHING as a one-file demo, even a music player with blank screen or a simple koala displayer: they all contain code, hence it's a "demo" (TM)Compuserve. | User Comment Submitted by Dr. TerrorZ on 6 November 2019
This is great!
If messing with $d020 makes it non-PETSCII, then a handful of other works come to mind too... Using sprites might be another matter, but here they stay outside the screen area too? | User Comment Submitted by Compyx on 6 November 2019
I like it, but is PETSCII the correct category? Or am I being overly pedantic again? | User Comment Submitted by Erol on 6 November 2019
great idea and execution! | User Comment Submitted by Zyron on 6 November 2019 User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 6 November 2019
so you released it... lol.
at first I thought it was easy to extend that cool PETSCII from Marq in the upper/lower borders, but it was a nice puzzle to solve.
I used ghost byte, 8 sprites with different priority and $d021 splits. Perhaps there was an easier way to do it, dunno.
I'll clean and release the source soon. | User Comment Submitted by Krill on 6 November 2019
Looks nice'n'clean. Now, i'd really like to see some scrollers on those stripes. =) | User Comment Submitted by Raistlin on 6 November 2019
Nice! I took a look at how you managed to get this working in the end - great to see that you did it without changing the original PETSCII :-)
Nice combination of sprites, ghostbyte and raster splits :-) |
