If I do not know C, I was able to understand the source of this is that unless something wonderful. Thanks for HCL.

Unfortunately that was not the option when i wrote that comment, as stated before. :D

Or just alter the source: at calls to fopen() use "rb" or "wb" instead of "r" or "w".
And while you're at it: please #include <stdlib.h> and #include <string.h> to get the proper prototypes for malloc(), strncpy() and friends, and check the return value of strncpy(). Also: don't cast the return value of malloc: this hides the fact that you failed to provide the proper prototype of malloc.

Until the new version is out: please make sure your Cygwin has the Unix line endings setting enabled. I just kept wondering why i get corrupt packed files until i found that the binary files have 0d 0a instead of 0a :D

Ok ok, thank you for that hint Werner. I should have released this shit about a year ago, but it really isn't more than a hack, still.

Those binaries are also more than a year old i suppose, and i actually did add some stuff a month ago or two.. Just hang on dudes, those who are interested :).. I'll put up some stuff here soon... Maybe :).

About Linux vs. Windoze.. I realize that i'm not really concerned about this shit. I buy a f**kn PC for €1000 and i expect it to work. I expect some c64-emulator to run on it, and i expect some communication via some cable to the c64/1541 to work (which is doesn't, and that still suxx!!). That's all, i'm not a PC-hacker.

Krill: yep, worked like a charm! Extremely well coded, by the way :)

Pucrunch can compress files for levelpacking usage as well, that is, without any depacker code; just use the -c0 option. But this packer should depack faster.
Compyx: use Exomizer 2.0 (beta). I succeeded in compiling the stuff on FreeBSD some time ago.

I compared ByteBoozer with Pucrunch. Pucrunch (with best compression) crunched a 20.097 bytes to 10.563 and ByteBoozer crunched to 10.517 which looks better at the first glance. But I think BB file doesn't include depacker and pucrunch does. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Pucrunch compresses better but I think ByteBoozer has more flexible usage alternatives. I'll examine this utility more detailed soon.

Is there any documentation for this release?

@Krill:

I know you use Cygwin, I tried compiling/assembling Artifacts on my Linux box :)
But somehow Exomizer (1.1.5) complains about '-c' not being a valid option...

Clicking and general use is still most comfortable in Windows, and you have lots of software that is Win only.
Cygwin then gives you the *nix/linux command line stuff and all the nice tools for it. :D
(Yes, i am a user of Win+Cygwin as well)

I often ask myself the same thing....

I see a lot of sceners using Cygwin, what is it that is so scary about using the real deal?
The lack of virus/adware/spyware-infected software, the lack of crashes and lock-ups, or perhaps the fact that it's free ?

HCL never released this to the public, but I think you should have it, because Byteboozer makes the demo for you!!! ;)

usage : byteboozer file

and file.bb will be created, which can be depacked with the depacker as found in the c64 releases.

You need Cygwin1.dll to run byteboozer.exe! (dl it somewhere from the internet)
