La Mer

This is not Elite. This is La Mer. It's 2600. The future never came. We didn't reach space. The Earth has flooded, resources are low, and the small remaining human population is barely surviving on old oil rigs.

Between the oil rigs there are traders, like the player, who travel on tiny solar-powered floating ships. The traders trade food, drinks, clothing, tools, woods, metals, porn, medicine, luxury items and vintage electronics.

You start with 90 credits in map number 9. When you get further in the game, you can move to other map areas by purchasing a long-range ticket (LR) on any oil rig for 90 credits. There's a billion map areas, each with 25 named oil rigs.

To move on the map: WASD

The options available after docking to an oil rig: 1)GO 2)TRADE 3)LR
1 back to map, 2 go to trade, 3 Long Range ticket (if you don't have enough credits for LR, the game goes to Trade mode, where you can see your credits.)

Trading mode: B)UY S)ELL N)EXT
Pressing B or S buys or sells one unit of the item under inspection. Press multiple times to buy or sell multiple units. Press N to move to next item. Credits are shown in upper left corner. After all 10 item types are processed, you're taken back to the map.

If you return to the same oil rig again, the game goes directly to Trade mode.

Visiting oil rigs is not free. Every time you leave an oil rig, you're taxed 10% of your credits, so it's always beneficial to do trade.

(Written for Commodore Finland 23-line/11 line numbers Basic Competition 2017, but wasn't posted to the competition, because only one entry per person was allowed.)
