@All: Thanks for you reactions!

@bitbreaker: I will take a look at it this weekend. For steep slopes I can see some advantage to my method, for flat slopes I don't know, I'll have to look into it. But at least I can say something about "other ways of building lines". Perhaps I can also briefly explain the way I do the rotations.
