I LOVE this tune, brings back such memories. Part of me consideres a 2Sid update of it, part of me knows that someone like Jammer would blow it out of the water with only 3 channels....

This amazing tune popped back into my head today. What a time capsule it is. I hear inspirations from Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway, Falco, Christer Sandelin... Everything Max Martin knows about pop music production, he learned from this tune. :P

Super cool that your are back. I always loved this tune, i could not help myself to use it in my oldschool intro last year. And i can understand u totally coming back after all those years. I am an old fart now too.

@Count Zero @Jammer: Thank you for your encouragement! Now I'm definitely more motivated to do songs again! :-)

@Count Zero: Coding my own player is never a waste of time for me. I'm 50% coder 50% composer, and I've always hated the concept of trackers. My mindset when composing is more like the main view in Cubase, where I can use and reuse whatever note pattern I like where ever I like. Also, sometimes I get crazy ideas, like in my tune GBK-test where I used a real time Karplus-Strong algorithm to make the distorted guitar sounds. As far as I know you can't do that with any other player (except maybe the one that was used in the demo "Synthesis" by mixer).

Welcome back ATOO!

What Zyron said!

Hope you cram some rock stuff into one of the popular composers available nowadays. Prolly no need to waste time on creating an own player/editor.

Hi Everyone, ATOO here! :-)
I just have to say I'm humbled and happy for all the love you've given to this song over the years! I was never a part of the scene as a teenager, and never realized that anyone knew of this song until years after. Shortly after making this song in 1989 I sold my c64 to buy an Amiga (a switch I've regretted ever since). Compleeto was written as a compo entry and I really tried to cram every technique I knew into this one tune. I was a singer in a rock band at the time, so I guess it influenced the style a bit. When I heard SIDRIP Alliance's cover of it some years ago I was impressed to hear it played in a proper rock band setting, sounding even better than I imagined it in my head!

Anyway, Since I'm writing I thought I may just as well correct an old rumor: I'm NOT the CEO at Urbanista. That Urbanista-Anders is my dad's younger cousin, and we've never met. Myself I am a Preschool teacher since 22 years, living in a small town north of Gothenburg, now studying to become a software developer. I've also started coding a bit on a new SID-player, but for some reason it's harder to find time as a 50+ than as a 20 year old...

Once again, Thanks for all your wonderful feedback!!!

I can confirm this is really from the 80's.

I was - and I'm sure pretty much everyone else I knew as well - dumbfounded and awe-struct when I first heard this piece.

At that time, this was completely unorthodox, with funky vibe and radical progression combined with out-of-the-box sounds.

It hit like Jake and Elwood at the fancy restaurant. Friggin' awesome!

Love it!
Also please do check GRG's version.
His doesn't have those osc.sync-related highpitch noises. :)

and now let's write him a letter, as the screenshot says and see if we would join the scene again! Fully agree, one of the best SID tunes ever composed.

Argh! No edit... I just wanted to add that I think it's more pleasant to listen to with 8580 due to less clicking noise.

Yeah this is good. I've heard it many times but never knew who made it until now. Those riffs in the intro are just ace. Kind of reminds me of Chris Huelsbeck with the constant bass riff with changing chords on top.
