After typing "new" in direct mode I could also make loops like

10 print "hello"
20 goto 10

run

and things like

10 input "name";na$
20 print "hello, "na$"!"

run

You just should not change screen and border color. Clearing screen works.

@ Ryk

Try typing "new" (enter) before writing fresh basic code.

I tested a 2 lines listing (line 10, line 20)with input name$ / print name$ and it worked after new command in direct mode.

I also crashed without typing new.
