So, I'm basically bitrolling the right most character of the scroller, and looping through eight charsets. Every eight frames I scroll the indices one char to the left, so I can used the cached chars from eight frames ago moved 8 pixels to the left.

Effects are triggered by escape code in the scrolltext.
