no bass in the original tune - so no bass here - baring in mind that this was originally on a BBC micro with a Texas Instruments SN76489 chip great at producing digital square waves (plus periodic noise) and modulating their volume and pitch but very little else and nothing in the bass end...

Sounds good! Maybe when bass would come in later it would be even better!

Yes I appreciate that but in this case wanted to give credit to Martin as I guess I think his work outside the c64 is sometimes overlooked and this is such a lovely piece of music.

Credits of authors of covered tunes are not needed in any case. You are the author of this sid. Martin is the author of the original composition. That's all =)

I really hope Martin Galway does not mind me making a version of this classic BBC micro tune for the c64 - Martin was not involved in any way with the making of this release but I credit him for the music as this is as direct a version as I could come up with for the c64 of this truly gorgeous piece of music (I think the best of his beeb tunes).
