A bit of dithering helps a lot. See:

The player timing could be improved to be non-frame bound. Then the video would not need a conversion to 12.531 fps and could play at 12 fps or something which fits the source better. Also this would help on NTSC.

REQUIRES AN REU - A movie player for the C64, Please note this is not a Nuvie player, the download contains a single simple movie, I'll happily add more if there is any interest.

Controls are via a 1351 mouse in port 1 or a joystick in port 2.
