I agree it's gfx I disagree about sub genre PETSCII because of gpz old definition Quote:
if you can PRINT it, it's PETSCII

I've never tried but consider it's hard to PRINT sprites in the borders ;)

We have to cut some slack in here like we do on most of music entries, some are proper one file demos, due to complex code of the displayers, this is one really complex code for displaying a petscii screen but I think we can still consider it a gfx entry, like most of the gfx entries that (ab)use the borders with sprites and rasterbars.
Else we should consider EVERYTHING as a one-file demo, even a music player with blank screen or a simple koala displayer: they all contain code, hence it's a "demo" (TM)Compuserve.

This is great!

If messing with $d020 makes it non-PETSCII, then a handful of other works come to mind too... Using sprites might be another matter, but here they stay outside the screen area too?

so you released it... lol.
at first I thought it was easy to extend that cool PETSCII from Marq in the upper/lower borders, but it was a nice puzzle to solve.
I used ghost byte, 8 sprites with different priority and $d021 splits. Perhaps there was an easier way to do it, dunno.
I'll clean and release the source soon.

Nice! I took a look at how you managed to get this working in the end - great to see that you did it without changing the original PETSCII :-)

Nice combination of sprites, ghostbyte and raster splits :-)
