If anyone is interested I reconstructed a clean "master disk" and coded a program to write the protection on a normal disk.
You can find everything here (check the bottom of the page):

Thanks for changing the file name.
Anyway, the reason behind this crack is because I like to have a 1:1 copy of an original game but without the protections. That makes it more easy to copy it back on a floppy (if needed) or to use it with emulators that don't support well some protections.
I just wanted to keep it as close to the original as possible.
The crack, as a matter of fact, just bypasses the protection check changing a JSR ($20) into a BIT ($2C) so techincally it has only two bits difference with the original.
I could also have bypassed the original intro but then again: I prefer to stay as close as possible to the original.

Everything you see is AS-IS in the original disk version of The Great Giana Sisters

Again, I didn't post this here.
I released it on github.

And no, it does not add anything, because I like to have a 1:1 copy of an original game but saved on a normal disk and without protections.

So what?
Adam and Groepaz : go get married or find a room. You always have to add something to anything people do.
Differently from you, for me this is just a hobby, not a reason of life.
Fortunately I have a very happy one.

The picture originally is from this disk. The original version of The Great Giana Sisters.
Where the authors took it I don't know.

The melting disk is ripped from Giana Sisters (tape) ?

I know that picture in the intro from a Wizax one file demo. Does anyone know where it is from originally?

Adam: what groepaz said, while not even packed or any feature is added, this is technically an actual crack of the original. It's not on par with oldies cracks and doesn't add anything of value compared to older cracks of the same title, but it's still a cracked version.
the "- original" is just meant to be "original hiscore table", with unchanged text. Changed filename accordingly to avoid further confusion.

Albeit a one byte patch, this is still much more of a "crack" than much (if not most) of the crap so called crackergroups keep releasing.

Quote:

An original Game by our definition is a Game which is or was sold (be it through a Magazine, a distributor, whatever) and which does not qualify as a crack. Generally entering commercial Games into the Database is prohibited

yet here we are.. staring at a file named "The Great Gianna Sisters - Original.d64", uploaded with the supposed "crack". interesting. can we all start uploading originals now or is this a special occasion?
