@method: there's a bunch of people who did such tools, algorithm's the first that comes to my mind
@result: looks good and of course cries for some hypnotic 2 or 4 frame looping animation :)

Oswald, that'd be a challenge. I kinda like the fact that PETSCII gfx is still an area mostly in the hands of artists. However, it should be possible to work out somewhat decent conversion tool - the ones we have atm are not even close to that though. Think the convertor 'd need indeed a lot of char tables & several 2-col conversions to create the final output.

I have written a similar converter, care to share the original? it'd be interesting to see which one does better :) convert to petscii coder compo? :)
