Both this and the GP version has the issue that they are not setting the Zeropage parameter that will control the speed of the NMI (which controls amongst other the music).

This tends to be right, but there is no guarantee. For some reason, it is right more often when using a real machine. In my emulator environment it borks heavily as the ZP is not the same when the game starts.

So it's the same as the original, and most of the time the version work as expected, but there is a fair bit of luck involved.

I was under the impression this version is having issues with the music and Excess' +2HD version did not have those same issues. Can someone please confirm?

Works as the original. No problem with this release.

Is it only me or is this version borked? It takes really long for the game to start and the music is also playing wall under normal speed.

The code assumes a value of a certain zeropage address, which the game doesn't set but is assumed to be something after a clean reset. That one is set in the right range in this version.
