I would appreciate a 32 version of this, which would have been compiled to work on XP SP3 too, but of course I know it's a step further the frustration of a new compiling from scratch...

>- added an option that allows to skip soundchip emulation in warpmode (to increase
performance, at the cost of some accuracy).

I love you guys!

In the past I had to hack this into my own builds.

When do you think we can expect a complied version for Mac/OSX?

not really. i'm not sure if/how this can be done using GHA either (it uses debian). The only reason for building the .deps at all is that it is rather trivial to do, we generally rely on the distributions to build packages for them.

I’ve seen people moaning a lot in the past about problems with audio, or that Turbo isn’t as fast as old VICE

Yeah forum64.de is full of people who whine like "Everything after VICE 2.1 was shit because back then WARP mode brought 1900%"... Let them whine on... no one with half a brain will even respond (apart from trolling them) Obviously for their purposes (no idea what these are, coding BASIC in direct mode or gaming) the old stuff might do, but demo-scene wise, keep your VICE updated FFS!

Cheers & Thx VICE Team!

Firstly, thank you for every release.

secondly, do you have any plans to include .rpm binaries?

With a ton of help from Aggressor I have a compiled version, but the sound is not working.

I can't see any sign of the cartridge formats PTV MegaByter and iComp GMOD4. What is the road map for these two ?

A patch for gmod4 (and an experimental windows build) has been available for some time. It will be included when the cartridge is actually available (ie a game that uses it was released).

I have never heard of that PTV cartridge for that matter - feel free to pass over the specs and sample images for testing :)

Scrap makes a very good point there. I’ve seen people moaning a lot in the past about problems with audio, or that Turbo isn’t as fast as old VICE (it won’t be: new VICE is more accurate - which typically requires more code and therefore CPU).

But what Scrap says is true: the scene wouldn’t be doing what it was so quickly without VICE. I can typically write most effects and demo parts in VICE and “pretty much” trust it. We test in real hardware too of course - but we develop in VICE.

Congrats team! I love what you’re doing here.

@Shine No problem, I've mangaged to build them myself and it works, but would be handy to have prebuilt binaries.

The Mac OS versions of 3.9 are missing. The links only lead to the 3.8 version, and the links themselves are broken.

@Shine
Nope, macOS binaries are indeed missing as fenz correctly pointed out, those links you provided leads to: https://sourceforge.net/projects/vice-emu/files/

macOS binaries are supposed to be here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/vice-emu/files/releases/binari..

but they are not there...

It is possible this version of VICE does a better job of emulating the C-128, relative to the main competitor (Z64K emu).

In the meanwhile, don't forget to propz the VICETeam in those pernicious corners of the net ( IRCNET IRC #c-64 , comes to mind. )

Thanks, VICETeam !
