Sound differences (volume, low frequencies) are possible because of age , Chinon- or Mitsumi-, belt- or flywheel drive.
You can combine 1541 with 1541-II drives or 1541 Ultimate/U64 (to protect your stepmotor/hardware). With a 1571 drive it doesn´t seem to work.
