It is really a weird effect that is achieved by simple means with the X on top of the rasterbars. It is almost as if the X is a transparent layer from a distance of the rest of the background.

There have been plenty of others that investigated similar ways of designing the screen, but this is perhaps one of more interresting results. I am especially fond of the blocky scroll that has been put on top of it all ;D
