If you hit fire on joystick port 2 during the intro, it will stop the change plasma parameters counter, and activate the user mode. The parameters are:

xp1 - xphaseinc
xp2 - xphase2inc
yp1 - yphaseinc
yp2 - yphase2inc
xs1 - xscale1
xs1 - xscale2
ys1 - yscale1
ys2 - yscale2
cs - colour scale (i.e. number of colours)
co - colour offset (i.e. where in the colour table)

page 2:

st 1-4 -> sinus types:

0 - sin(x)
2 - (sin(x)+sin(2x))/2
4 - x^2
6 - x^3+2x^2


m1/m2 - x-morth
ym... - ymorph, which doens't actually work :)
