The biggest pain in the neck when you never used modems is you tended to be behind the times - like this example.

Heh, you weren't the only one. I was still coding very out-of-date demos in the 21st century!... as well as using 80's composers, Blackmail's FLI-Graph... ECA-Linker... the lot! Things changed dramatically once I got the internet! :P

Nobody claimed to originate IMAP - but it was'nt seen elsewhere by us, none of us were on modems so we coded & developed ideas ourselves. It was'nt until way after the things were sent out that people kept sending in interlaced things to us - which was the point I was like "Ah, guess it's not new then". It happens when you relied on snail-mail. The demos were out - what could anyone do ?

From one of the scrollers:

"IMAP was an idea that Paul Kubiszyn had, you see, we all know the problems using IFLI - too much memory and time gets taken up, so Paul asked me about this when I visited him, and after a couple of attempts I got it right".

In other words, they're claiming to have invented interlaced bitmap several years after it first appeared?!!
