Oh please. Sorry if I stepped on your egos there. A converter was used in both cases, that was my only point.

No one is putting the creative and technical value of the crest slideshow and this on the same level. So dont get your panties all twisted.

Ouch. That hurts... Static versions of pixelled c64-pics (including FULL CREDITS!) are in no way comparable with putting some random JPG through a converter...

I think he was actually trying to kiss your ass ;_)

I have to agree with Deekay: At least one could ask for whether there was an original photographic image and a story, maybe even a graphical process and so on.
How could one compare that to any effort of the "love for the machine" Deekay and many others perform (do I need to mention myself)?
Adam seems to find it hilarious on his behalf, so I guess it wasn't meant to be any serious release in the first part. Too bad! The image has qualities if it was post-processed and made in any right proportion.

Jesus, it's a german shepherd! I honestly had to look at the pic some 10 seconds to actually recognize it!

Maybe you havent got our point. Converted stuff is a no-go. Unless your name is Deekay/Crossbow and you're introducing a new gfx format or such.

After LCP'09 I was reminded that almost all of the c64 sceners suffers from any form of alcoholic problems, so for a fact that “Chinese”... thing wasn't far from the truth.
Adam: Did you take the original photograph? What's the source of inspiration? The nature, colors, sounds, the animal etc. The emotion... Please write something about that then to calm these flames down.

EDIT: It's obvious that it's converted probably using some pc tool. However the aspect ratio got wrong and distorted the image. Probably not intended, that's ok, we've seen it before. Of course it always feels bad to see non-fixed conversions, a bit of anti-alias here and there and maybe some new choices in the fantastic creative process etc.

@Adam: "my care factor for anyone's opinion is:
0.00%"

No, dude, that's me, most of the time :D

Don't be like that, it may take more time for you to make things better than for Philips - not recommended.

Tested, tried, failed.

Yes, it is:

Chinese Screaming Drunken Bastards ;)

Y'all, don't even THINK about misleading me :)

d0c that is a bloody awful idea. I can't understand at all how you think this site would be better if people were unable to comment on a release.

"the reality of this place, is that some people hangaround here to only to give crap comments on other peoples releases..."

I think the reality is that you clearly don't get this place. The reality of this site, as well as hundreds of other websites that allow people to showcase their creations (whatever they may be!) is that if you upload something, some people are probably not going to like it. If you upload some half-arsed conversion or something that looks like it took you half an hour to make, then expect it to be respected as much as other work which has taken the authors many hours of care and attention to complete, there's even more chance people aren't going to like it.

Also, you mention bad comments on JSL releases, but I don't see him whining like you and Adam. He goes away, makes something else and over time...even if it's a slow process...he is getting better.

"fresh C64 releases keep the scene alive!"

so does bitching.

@TDJ: those ppl are happy because it's a C64 release and new, fresh C64 releases keep the scene alive!

Yes, that was sarcasm.

At least with the 9 you know it's an upvote, but I'm more shocked there are people here who actually think this is worth a 4 or a 6 ..

and another reality is that some people simply release a lot of crap.

@d0c:
Why the hell should the releaser moderate the comments?

That's just awfully lame. If that would be implemented, I would start forum topics for every single release that that has deleted negative comments, flaming the hell out of , just out of general principle.

This is CSDB, not China...

@Stainless Steel

i just read all of the comments on pictures JSL have uploaded here recently and he get alot of crap comments, even when his pictures are not converts... so you cant blame it all on converts...

the reality of this place, is that some people hangaround here to only to give crap comments on other peoples releases...

what csdb really should have is an option in the uploading/posting section where the uploader can choose to have comment on or off on his releases. or better a option where the releaser could delete all the crap comments himself, that would be the best...

Well, you do not receive crap, but comments on your products. Some of them may be negative and won't match you opinion. But hey, this is than free speech.

And ".. but geez..
it makes me wonder if i should bother
releasing my original artwork or any new
music here if my work offends people."

doesn't match with

"my care factor for anyone's opinion is:
0.00%"

Well, to sum it up. "If You cant stand the heat, stay the fuck out of the kitchen". Dont take it personal though, just trying to give you some advice on how this place works.

If you upload something that's not obviously converted, your chances of not getting flamed are a lot better.

Seeing you are neither one or the other, our level of appreciation is around 0.00% aswell. Sorry to rain on your parade.
