Only recent Vice builds since June 2020 include native Black Box 8 support (I asked Groepaz about that back in 2013 xD) hence ultimate-hacks to adapt ROM image to other cartridge scheme.

Anybody know who is responsible for the packaging of the rom? When looking at the contents I am a little astonished to find that the "oryginal" ROM has quite a few changes to the 1541U "hacked" version.

Quoting Carrion
But i think Action Reply was most popular in mid 90's

Yeah, and it was nastily cracked AR4 sold as AR7 with different F-key setup :)

v2/v3 and v4 were more popular than v8.
and I don't think AR (or maybe action plus 7.x clones based on AR4.x) was more popular than FC3 clones among ppl using disk drives ;) scenewise AR was most popular for sure.

Is it true that this was the most popular c64 cartridge in Poland? ...with a bunch of functions aimed at tape, and so on?
