The koala picture is from some magazine graphics competition - needs proof though.

i also remember it from the 64er mag - but i am somehow sure it was a comparison/test of some gfx programs, and not a compo. (some time ago i have checked all 64er issues for the pictures of their one and only gfx compo... 64'er Graphics Compo "Pixelpracht" ... and the hamburger isnt one of them :))

The only way to make this even MORE obvious would have been leaving even the eagle picture like it was.

Well, umm ... I prefer not to assume but to check - and actually did so when having posted the 2nd time here· Thought that would be obvious.

The Ripoff is trying to load "4x4boot" so you can make it a complete "re-crack" by renaming the ESI ntsc version and copying this to it.

The fact that this is standalone just humiliates >BUD< to the ripping state - not full recracking - thx god.

@grenouille: My hint was not aiming at deleting it. Leave it like it is, maybe change the category ("Fake"?). Amazing how impertinent some people were back then. At least they could have changed the charset or painted sth on their own, shouldn't have been a problem for someone who is able to insert an example picture of a paint software.

@Groepaz: with or without the release belonging to the cracktro - of course it stays ripped crap. Even if there ever was any crack, I suppose that it was also just stolen, probably from here:
4x4 Off-Road Racing
But who knows... ;)

@Ninja: lol yer right, especially remark 2, very great "underground" scroller...

In fact it's a slightly modified ESI Intro with the code ripped off but the scoll pointers not reset. Funnily the PAL/NTSC Version is lacking the ESI Intro and Papillions give credit on the text for the crack. I assume ESI passed them a cracked plain copy for fixing? This didn't happen due to lack of space I think. However - the Dualis Intro lacks any explanation.

On the original NTSC crack by ESI a different tune was used for the intro so I suppose the source for this rip off is not 4x4 itself.

Right - properly sign it as a rip-off then but keep it for public annihilation.

True - its some sort of release and the rape here should get better documented. The koala picture is from some magazine graphics competition - needs proof though. Is the code a straight ESI ripoff?

This is a release, be it hacked or lamered, that should be in CSDb.

This is HYSTERICAL!

1. That hamburger looks absolutely disgusting.

2. The scrolltext is amazingly funny for at least a dozen reasons.

3. I was involved in a "local lamer" discussion earlier today. THIS release is the epitome of a local lamer release. Totally textbook! Ha!

"So I delete?"
it'd be much less tempting to say yes if the actual release would be complete and it wouldnt be just the intro *shrug*

It is tricky this as one demo I loved back in 1988 were a demo that were all ripped too... but to me that demo stand in my mind and in a way that is a part of the scene to, the rippers! Where is the border there... There were a lot of rippers in the past and also one might say that the scene origined from stealing in a way... maybe add the proper creds in a way... maybe another field in the database telling this is a duplicate of this release or so... I do not know here as the rippers sure made the scene special too...

Well, one thing is pretty plain:
THIS definitely IS 1:1 ESI-Style =)
Koala/Eagle is the only thing which is different.
