By toggling very vehemently between title and highscores you can provoke a crash.

EDIT 07th of Sep 2010:
Identified one problem as the "1541-I (pre-1541-II) bug". Overwriting the highscore without scratching the file explicitly before can cause problems with older 1541 DOS. So I can recommend the use/emulation of a 1541-II. Sadly, this does not mean that game runs 100% stable with 1541-II, so there seem to be further problems.

EDIT 4th to 6th Oct 2011 Bugfixed version coming soon
Cache problem identified as the bug causing crashes even when drive turned off. Further points of critique will be paid attention to, new version will be NTSC-fixed and have less laggy controls. Playing with keyset will no longer be an advantage, since keyboard puffer will be reduced to 1. Garbage collection will be sent to hell by abandoning strings almost altogether. Everything will be done much less circumstancial, the only delay remaining will be the intended slowdown in earlier levels. Even this delay can be bypassed if the player moves joy/key in currently selected direction. All in all the game should get faster while the controls react more accurately, so I am aiming at the best of both worlds, more difficulty and more playability. Last but not least, some minor inconsistencies with regard to bonus score calculation will be dispelled (some very slight miscalculation snowballed due to exponential length bonus and led to varying calculation of displayed length vs. hidden length which was not intended). Once opened, the door will not disappear anymore until you either entered it or died (rare bug). Fairness: Samuelson 5 agents won't appear directly in front of your face anymore.

EDIT 27th of Oct 2011
There it is:
Snake on a Plane V1.1

Enjoy!
