I just added import support for the CTM V4 files.
The format is documented, however I find num-characters bytes between CELL_ATTRIBS and MAP_DATA (for a COLOR_MODE = 2 file). The data seems to contain color values. What's up with that? | User Comment Submitted by Subchrist on 10 August 2012
@ Odie..
Perhaps it's not clear but the Import and VICE ripper tools are really for the importation of complete data sets, chars and tile data together, they were created to facilitate the import of finished data from existing games.
The program is designed to generate character data from user painted tiles not the other way around.
Did you really expect the program to understand your "custom map system from 20 years ago"? :)
The map format CharPad can understand is very straightforward and explained in the docs so be prepared to do a bit of hex editing/conversion before your maps can be loaded successfully.

The import from Vice was quite disappointing. If there's an imported character set, I'd rather be able to plot the contents of the characters into tiles without the program trying to manipulate the characterset. I used ranges of characters for certain types of game pickup objects and collision objects which this totally screws up.
Also it couldn't import my custom map system from 20 years ago in an old project I'm picking up again.
I may have to write my own cross-platform editor to achieve what I was looking for. | User Comment Submitted by Zyron on 7 September 2011

A slight, but important improvement to the earlier versions. This really makes it usable for me. Many thanks! | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 3 September 2011 User Comment Submitted by TWW on 3 September 2011
Splendid! I really like this tool and glad to see it's continued development.
Improvement Sugestions:
#1: Animation
#2: Multiple Character Sets
#3: Zoom |
