I disagree with Raffox, I actually quite like the metaball-smoke! What I personally would improve would be the antialiasing on the hog fangs and I'd add some dithering in the weapon... The Rockabilly-Gremlin is fantastic though, great work, Steve!
Also, please never turn off voting and commenting! <:-) After all, what would CSDb be without the drama? Just imagine we'd have to go to Pouet for our daily dose of Drama!.... Maybe we could crown a CSDb-drama queen once a year? ;-D

I personally like these improvements of STE'86. Besides the unquestionable visual pleasure offered to us all, they are useful to see how he improved/refined his old works. Comparing the new version to the old one helps other gfx artists on analyzing his retouching approaches, and refine each individual's painting technique.

About the downvoting? STE'86 an artist of your class shouldn't even bother about it.

Oh, another thing... I would have liked more a better smoke looking cloud coming out of the weapon, with its random irregularities and darker areas, instead of nurbish like balls/bubbles :)
Said that, cute picture.

This is just a great pic and much better than it's predecessor!

"yesteryears images" get repainted for the same reason they digitally remaster things like Star Trek...
Because when these were done, I had less than 12 months experience of the relatively brand new medium of computer graphics and old technology. Now with 25 years of experience and "layers" I can look at them and be driven to make them look as good as I think they deserved to.

I like the Cartesian... Huh! the Schmidts´ian fumes from the gun. Carrion missed the hatching of one of the dresses; there is a try to get those comic characters into a different set of condition.

So what could we "new-school" artists learn really from this wonderful work? Well the most obvious is the economy of space and color. It's close too emerge a coders dream of setting chars to fire.
We still paint our rainbows and that must be a hell on his screen...

I gave it a 8 anonymously, if that's ok? I still don't get why you repaint yesteryears images, but that seem quite a personal question to ask.

I respect and admire your work deeply from the years I deploy this love for our machine.

Credit where credit is due, atleast Bitbreaker voted without hiding behind the anonymous tag (not that I agree with his vote) I think his vote has more to do with humour, as I suspect STE just might have blown a fuse.

The problems are in your heads. Nowhere else. :)

There you go, point proven about the turning off comments and votes very nicely :)
some c**t votes 1, not on the release quality but on whether they like me and what's in the comments. Couldn't have made a better case for removing both if I had tried :)

"People want less drama"
if that'd be the case they could just ignore all the useless vote crap and stop whining about it in public.

For all the drama and mimimimimi a straight one from me.

EXACTLY!. turn the fcking things off and it's just a database as its supposed to be. If someone wants it to be a gallery with votes and comments. fine. if someone else wants to write a production note and leave it at that. that should be fine too.

I've said it countless times before, there should be the option of turning comments and voting off for an entry. People want less drama but no action is taken to kill two of the main avenues for drama creation.

We’re on the brink of entering into the ago old CSDb debate of disabling anonymous voting.
Anonymous voting probably / most likely rates as the no.1 disliked feature on CSDb.
One solution might be to hold a vote on anonymous voting.

Someone has voted 3 for Mind the oranges, Marlon!!
If that isn't anonymous downvoting, I don't know what is.
It would be interesting to know how well the anonymous down voter can pixel ;)

actually 6 is an optimum downvote. we have already experimented with it.

and no, I am neither interested really in feedback or backpatting, in fact as I have said before, I would dearly like the user option of turning off comments and votes on all my stuff. It's only uploaded by me on this poxy site because if I don't then someone else will and this way I still have some control over it.

Thanks for trolling tho, it is appreciated.

the optimum downvote isnt 6 at all, next try =)

"If you don't like it enough to vote a 6 on it, why vote at all?"
so you are infact not interested in feedback at all - just in backpetting?

probably because anyone who knows how to abuse the voting system, knows full well that a 6 is THE optimum downvote?
It will always have more effect than a 1 and it's masked because looks like it could possibly be a real vote.
If you don't like it enough to vote a 6 on it, why vote at all? it's obviously not worth your time.

hah! I wondered when the usual anonymous CSDB "tactical" voting would begin. Shame the voters can't grow a pair and be open about it :)

Always nice to see the odd piece of real pixel graphics amidst all those Sw- or hand-converted releases.
7.5/10 in my book!

Vast improvement, especially the gun, gun smoke and hair.
The Hogs huge lower teeth could use some extra work. The white hi-lite looks blocky and the black outline blocky.
