...and I'd prefer the blocks to stop falling when you let go of the joystick, just like in the Game Boy version! :-)
Wooo-hooo! This will be great fun! :-) | User Comment Submitted by Telespielator on 4 February 2018
Hey MP! Thank you very much! I'm very much looking forward to the upcoming version! Would you mind stopping the MP-logo from flickering as well? Quite annoying! ^^ THX! | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 30 January 2018
Hi Telespielator! I implemented the function that you've suggested me. Now with the '4' key or joy/up the piece in descent becomes again pilotable.
Soon I will publish the new version, with all the changes and news.Bye! | User Comment Submitted by Telespielator on 29 January 2018
This looks and sounds very cool, but sadly there are some thing I don't like about it:
- The bar lacks one element (3 instead of 4 as mentioned)
- It plays quite juddery
- It lacks the important feature to stop when going fast. In the Game Boy version you can "pull down" a piece, but stop "pulling" to navigate it to its intended destination. This is some important feature missing in most of the Tetris clones including the Mirror Soft version. Maybe you could improve it, so it would be perfect?! :-) | User Comment Submitted by Echo on 23 January 2018
Nice to see, you seem to like the music... | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 20 January 2018
I'll might fix the problem of the 'i' piece in an upcoming version. Stay tuned :) | User Comment Submitted by Zirias on 20 January 2018
Haha, again this one. Actually, I kind of feel sorry for that. I just managed to write one(!) C64 game myself, I kept it ultra simple and still I'm not finished, so I know how much work it is. You did a very nice job here, and these "stupid" quirks ruin part of it. Any chance to fix them and release another version? Would be a great thing I guess! | User Comment Submitted by enthusi on 20 January 2018
I have to add as well that the point (and name) of Tetris are pieces based on four elements. Your bar lacks one. | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 20 January 2018
It's all right, Zirias ;)
Criticism corrects are welcome. Thanks for your comment and for your '6'! | User Comment Submitted by Zirias on 20 January 2018
MP, please don't be annoyed here! I rate it '6' as well, meaning slightly above "average". On the plus side, yes, the title screen looks nice! Not a big fan of these misused cyrillic letters (Я is pronounced 'ya'), but it's so common, nothing to really complain about -- the looks are definitely good. And the game works, which is a lot of work, appreciate that :) On the other hand, there are these two "design flaws" already mentioned ... a tetromino consists of four(!) sqares, not three -- and controlling the piece should be independent from the dropping. Still well done, so keep it up. | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 20 January 2018
I don't see any flickering color fx and the top raster on St Basil is cool. maybe you mean the flashing scroller & mp logo?
There's no love on CSDb. and CSDb is just a database. :) | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 20 January 2018
In the period in which I wrote my Tetris I did not have the possibility to compare it with any other version. So my "Tetris" is definitely not a faithful port.
I accept the criticism.
And to say that in this game there is room to improve it is one thing.
To say that there is nothing to see there is another thing.
Thanks jammer for your '6' and for your comment. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 20 January 2018
@MP: This is not how world works ;) You cannot forbid people to judge on your product honestly. I strongly encourage you to release things but there's still room for improvement, at least for this port. I cannot lie you it's good game when it lacks in many aspects. I gave you 6 and it's in my opinion fair grade for the release. I enjoy intro screen but game is not very playable due to little responsiveness. Besided, in original Tetris key down only speeds up piece, not drops it to the end (but it was also big problem of proper C64 port). To that, horizontal steering seems to be in sync with drop speed whereas those two should be independent. iAN is often a bit harsh in his comments but he's at the same time specific and tells you WHAT is to be improved. It's up to you how you're going to improve.
Cheers! | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 19 January 2018
N.B. Rasterbars may like or dislike but are not flickering. | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 19 January 2018
The game in my opinion is good, even with its limitations.
I do not like to compare my work with those of others.
Respect those who do not think like me. Someone will like this game, others will not.
I think the criticisms are excessive and do not encourage those who want to publish something here. | User Comment Submitted by O'Dog on 19 January 2018
I appreciate that you do small games and let us participate. But you have to agree that they are not the class of what e.g. Cadaver produces.
And while I am at it: Those flickering color effects look cheap and go on my nerves. | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 19 January 2018
First of all, let's clear one thing, I am free to comment on the quality of ANY production. I am not commenting about you, I am commenting this production. There is no need to feel offended.
One should always face every type of comments, and I'm not one giving out "WOW! FUCKING AMAZING PRODUCTION! BEST OF THE BESTESTS!! GOOD WORK!!!" for free like some is used to do on _every_ thing that gets released whatever is the effective quality.
What do you want me to say about this, that is a good and well made tetris? It's not, the controls are slow, unresponsive and laggy. The gfx quality is low/average, spectrumish. The tunes are reused, so this is not even interesting for me to get new tunes for HVSC. | User Comment Submitted by MP Software on 19 January 2018
Why do the same people make the same bad comments?
The last game was a work of lamers. There is nothing to see in this.
Certainly they do not encourage those who wish to publish their works here.
This is not the best Tetris in the world? OK, but is MY Tetris, coded instruction for instruction in assembly 24 years ago.
There is a not standard piece. This is true.It was a wrong choice.
It's Perfectly playable, i've playing for 24 Years. There is a pretty intro. The music is nice (and all the related credits has been inserted)
I believe it was worth publishing this game.Bye | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 19 January 2018
Apart changing tunes and some text, nothing. Barely playable and non standard piece. Nothing to see here. | User Comment Submitted by Tim on 19 January 2018
nice, the world needs more cowbells.. and tetris :)
what's the difference of 1.1 and 1.0 ? | User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 18 January 2018
congrats on getting it out of the door after 24 years :) motivating to look in own dusty archives for rotting projects | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 18 January 2018
nice version! congratz!!!
interesting: the piece "I" is only 3x chars long, so you cannot do tetris with this tetris! :)
just to understand what I mean: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetris |
