RB: Well, having put a couple of mornings into it, I've certainly come away with a renewed appreciation for your achievement. Certainly wouldn't be an easy record to beat, that's for sure. Nice work!

Joe, thanks for clarifying that. I came across it a couple of times and also didn't find the origin. I could not think of a good title, and this seemed a funny one.

CJ and Oswald, I am sure you can figure it out, but since I have spent a lot of time on this, I hope it will take you a few days :-)

Joe: Now I know the original source. I always wondered where it all started. Thanks for enlightening me. :)

@Hedning and all the rest:
Once and for all.. The comment came from Crimson for this particular image of mine,
before Jailbird made it into a perfectly fun thing several years ago.

Joe: Was it Ed, then? Jailbird has been posting that "quote" since 2007 at least, for example here, where Ed is answering: 17 Bytes Effect.

Huh. Single bitmap buffer, no sprites or scrolling at all in this implementation. Eeeenteresting...

@Oswald: It wasn't my comment!

Haha nice.

Haven't looked at the internals yet, but I've noticed that the X position is a triangle wave rather than a sinusoid, so conceptually there are two bitplanes scrolling in opposite directions with only tiny updates required at the edges.

Of course, doing two layers exactly like that is impossible in high res, so there's still a fair amount of work going on there for at least one of the layers...

btw all dots plotted or reusing some via chars, that would be my first guess on cheating :)

Neat! I didn't know there were curves in the subconscious. I thought it was full of Jungian symbols.

Each of the nine different curves contains 208 pixels, for a total of 1872 pixels.
