I call BS on the screen loading time!
But thank you for confirming the SCREENSHOT I posted was REAL! aha!
So please let the real one stay
But maybe it just FEELS fast.
Anyhow, here's the ACTUAL load sequence in REAL time... with the REAL screens!
https://zerofusion.com/21_second_backup_cable/21_second_backup_..
It's the FASTEST copier ever made, full stop. NO other copier can copy a full disk in under 21 seconds.
Dual drive is even faster (no disk swaps)
NOTHING can touch this, not by a mile! | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 22 December 2021
Quote:Yeah, sure there are other fast loaders, tons of them, but NONE of them can load 1/3rd of a disk in under 5 seconds!
There is no other fastloader that loads ~250 blocks in 5 seconds? (JiffyDos isnt really among the fastest, btw)
This thing doesnt load particular fast actually, it takes surprisingly long until that picture appears. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 22 December 2021
This program even requires a parallelcable to be present - which the fast loader may utilize, so should be possible to do it faster than transwarp - even from a d64. | User Comment Submitted by SLC on 22 December 2021
master_hacker: you ARE aware that you just told the guy who made the fastest disk loader for 1541 that he doesn't know how a fast loader works? :P | User Comment Submitted by master_hacker on 22 December 2021
You don't seem to understand how fast load works at all. It's like you've never even heard of Vorpal, Speed-Dos or SDS.
That's scary.
Saying it's "1 file" is really misleading, seemingly intentionally.
Yeah, sure, it's one file, but it's a third of the disk.
Cracking means you can make as many copies as you like, which this allows you to do, complies with both the spirit and the letter of the intent.
And I'll repeat cracking does NOT mean "breaking" the software so badly it no longer functions, or takes 10 minutes to load.
If you remove the fast loading, you actually destroy the whole point of its existence.
No one is going to wait 10 minutes for a copier to load.
Yeah, sure there are other fast loaders, tons of them, but NONE of them can load 1/3rd of a disk in under 5 seconds!
Except maybe vorpal and JiffyDOS is hardware so it doesn't count.
You don't have to love it, you don't even have to like it,
besides I doubt you have the hardware to run it anyhow. it's a real niche product.
but it IS the fastest! | User Comment Submitted by Krill on 21 December 2021
The program itself should be copyable with standard backup tools to be considered a crack, hence D64.
As for "g64 because speed", 50x fastloader working with plain D64 is a thing now. =) | User Comment Submitted by Steppe on 21 December 2021
I think what Groepaz means (and master_hacker not quite understands because he seems to be standing on the Schlauch, hihi), is that the copy program itself doesn't need to be on a G64. If it's just a single file, it coul be loaded from a regular D64, right? Of coz you need a G64 later on to copy the protected disks, but the copier itself doesn't need to be on a G64 to work. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 21 December 2021

Thus g64
Alternate reference for this kind of thing: Vorpal fast loader, also SDS.
You can safely assume people here know this. When they ask, they ask for specifics, not generic babble. So i ask again: why does this require g64 exactly? | User Comment Submitted by master_hacker on 21 December 2021
The present screenshot is from the actual loading screen!
g64 now zip file.
Also added User Guide, other documentation, including documentation on the exact cable pinouts | User Comment Submitted by master_hacker on 20 December 2021

If you make this into a D64 and strip the fast load, speed dos, SDS from it, it will become a 210 second backup, which renders it useless.
You can't have it both ways, this bypasses all copy protection, create as many copies as you want, and even copy those copies. But it preserves the speed. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 20 December 2021
It'd be nice if you'd spare the rant and just tell why it needs a g64 :) | User Comment Submitted by master_hacker on 20 December 2021
g64 because d64 is crap.
If it was d64 this would be 210 second backup.
Have you seen stuff like Vorpal?
It's not always about copy protection,
A LOT of software uses fast loaders, and custom formats to make their programs go faster.
The point of a crack is to remove the copy protection, which this does.
Fast load <> copy protection | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 20 December 2021
When this is cracked - why .g64? | User Comment Submitted by master_hacker on 20 December 2021
I'm starting on the writeup for this stuff now, it'll be a while, given xmas.
But one of the biggest secrets of the protection that we've all heard over the decades is actually a lie, total BS.
A lot of people aren't going to be happy about that. | User Comment Submitted by ws on 20 December 2021
please be so kind and do a detailed writeup of the crack. those things are extremely interesting imho. | User Comment Submitted by master_hacker on 20 December 2021
yes, this is the one that had that famous spiral copy protection.
That's taken care of in this image.
Yes, after all these decades, I figured it out! | User Comment Submitted by Six on 19 December 2021
Details? Isn't this the one that had that weird spiral format? |
