Nice one! I guess the scene now needs a 101% version of the English version...

Neo-Rio: Exactly. That's what I suggested in the "Production Notes" section. The bug was in the british release by Alligata, not in the spanish release by Opera Soft. The original tape comes with a custom "Opera Loader" (which, by the way, isn't recognized by TapClean or TapEx) and when they converted it to Novaload, perhaps Alligata couldn't access to a graphician back in the day in order to translate the game title into English, so they decided to remove it at all.

In this spanish Opera version, there was a routine in the inicialization process that checked for the space bar to be pressed, so the loading screen remained being shown when the game finished loading. For some strange reason, the original coders displayed the bitmap in the first VIC bank, even though the fourth was empty, so they had to move 8 KB of data from $E000 to $FFFF back to $2000 after space key was pressed.

The Alligata english version already had the correct data placed at $2000, so the copy routine didn't need to be executed. Also having to press space when loading finished, might have scared the hell out of the average british user, so obviously they needed to skip both routines. However, the patch was wrong and they placed 3 NOPs instead of 2, creating a bogus instruction that prevented the game to properly call the cheat routine (that checks for "OPERA" string in the BASIC buffer) and changed another memory location that very later in the game forced it to crash.
