So many hours spent on a bad crop. The chin should have been opened for at least one more row. Sticking the eyebrow to the upper edge instead of mouth to the lower edge would work so much better. My 5c. 0 years of artschool.

Very nice and thanks for uploading the reference pics!

I wonder if there's a PETSCII tool with reference pic support (not a converter but just low-res import?) similar to ALBERT 1.1.2 for pixel pics. Might have made your journey easier.

Let me correct my comment. I wrote ‘handjob’ while meaning ‘handshop’. Thank you.

Fantastic! Crazy to imagine PETSCII in the hands of an artist can produce such a great image as this

9.3 is good score for handjob over conversions, nay?

Sarge-You're hands-down one of the best artists here. There's not a deep "why" here. I just was playing with the converters, frustrated by them, and finally decided to just handjam the image. By the time I was done drawing I thought it was good enough to publish so I did.

While everyone has its own way I just think why didn't you just draw it from scratch when it seemingly took this long time to just get the conversion work the way you wanted?
Seems very inefficient.
Your own work without conversion equals much bigger satisfaction.
Conversion AND a lot of struggle sound like much frustration.

Shine--I uploaded a screenshot of some reference I used. I could do it all by hand, but it using conversion reference gave me some good ideas; the quarter circle on the inside point of the left eye was beautiful.

@ Guinea_pig:

Can you please explain, why you used converters?

Clayboy--I used 3 conversions as a basis, and then spent 20 hours finishing by hand.
