The grey scale image looks like a semi handmade- semi transferred piece that probably did not take much more than up to a maximum of 10 minutes to an hour to make.
The background is probably some photograph of this or that type of type of this or that type of type, from this or that type of town, from this or that type of country (probably Europe) that has been sized and cut to suit this or that type of format.
The distortion of the building/architectural piece in the background is probably some odd mix of Photoshop and X-Ray, and Project One transfer tweaks. While bringing the piece back and forth between the programs and playing around with size, brightness and contrast the end result is a skewed image that looks similar to a bad Video(-tape) signal. It is not something too advanced but the result is on the other hand rather persuading, almost as if the picture had been in put to motion, as if fast forwarding with great speed or perhaps paused.
I personally never saw that many images with a similar approach on this machine, ever.
The jagged circular field in the middle looks like a pill of some sort, despite its roughness and only after taking into account the verbal aspect of the piece it becomes clear. The Pill looks like a typical XTC (Ecstasy) pill with a "thumbs- up" sign, and was probably downloaded via Google images using the searchword ectasy drug, tweaked and added to the background with some sort of layer finesse which has become common good on every graphic program there is, well almost, that is.
Seen in retrospect, this image playfully refers to one of the recent images of one of the more respected artists in the scene. A dialogue is taking place, in a mute way, but visually nonetheless forceful despite over aged discussions surrounding transfer and lack of artists hand, capacity and originality. And even in some cases overlooking issues such as the context, and what have you.
The Thumbs up is probably something of a greeting to some great and known artist, showing respect to some of his finest work whereas the title seem to mostly at a playful level connect to the discussion around new and old, and some sort of White stuff, that has been discussed and (not) seen lately....
Oh and by the way. There was something of a bonus image on the disc.
