@ramb: As said, high pitched leads work for some people, but not everyone. Buy something to suck you off then, if that's the problem. :-) Also, What's with the new profile? Delete the old one? Or Merge? (to avoid more mess on CSDB) | User Comment Submitted by SIDWAVE on 29 May 2009
I pitch the lead to heighten the atmosphere, its simple psychology. i dont actually do it on purpose, its how i feel when making it, i feel full of energy. (i have no gf to suck me dry) :) | User Comment Submitted by Soren on 29 May 2009
Geir: it's probably just the lack of expression here and there... dunno :-)
Concerning highpitched leads... Not everybody seems to be able to handle that well. | User Comment Submitted by GT on 29 May 2009
Of course Jeff. I can't hear any childish notes in it, though. You mean the high-pitched octave sound in the middle ? But that's sweet. :-) | User Comment Submitted by Soren on 29 May 2009
Geir: yep, I did write that he has improved. But comments from me are honest as I prefer that myself. I can not learn much if people just say "IT's COOL!" nomatter if it is or isn't. :-) | User Comment Submitted by GT on 29 May 2009
Jeff, agree on some points. But this is such an improvement from Jan, that I won't comment on pulse sweeps, but he has used some ADSR expression now and then atleast. I've told Jan to spend more than a day (or a few hours) on a tune. Go from a day to atleast one week. Or like me, a whole year. lol. Keep it up Jan. :-) | User Comment Submitted by Soren on 29 May 2009
Not bad at all. I would prefer more expression on the lead though, but I guess I will never be able to explain exactly what does that. There's still several things about the lead that to me sound a bit childish and the highpitched notes get a little bit annoying at times. Btw, everyone should know that on 6581 chips, switching filter on and off will click. I have to take off my hat and show my bald head, for Jan having improved. Or atleast it shows in this tune that he has. :-) | User Comment Submitted by psych on 29 May 2009
I agree with you Dane. Melody is very nice, stays in my head for a long time. Keep it up Jan. | User Comment Submitted by Dane on 29 May 2009
All good except for the repetitive chord structure. I would have liked a bridge somewhere halfway through. | User Comment Submitted by nada on 29 May 2009
Viva Grand Master!! :D :D | User Comment Submitted by GT on 29 May 2009
I just want to comment again since I've had more listens to this masterpiece. This tune has one of the best melodies on the C-64 for the last couple of years. This could easily have been a Metallica metal ballad. Nice work on the lead expressions Jan ! | User Comment Submitted by MacGyver on 28 May 2009
Excellent track. Would perfectly fit in the endpart of a demo, game over screen of a game or a "We are dead!" anncouncement of a group as it really feels like the end of something. | User Comment Submitted by GT on 28 May 2009
Very good Jan. I really enjoyed listening to this piece. Definately not a jam session. Give us more tunes like this! | User Comment Submitted by Jok on 28 May 2009 User Comment Submitted by Orcan on 28 May 2009
Simplicity is sometimes beautiful. No, it is really rich on melody. | User Comment Submitted by zenda on 28 May 2009
I like this, Jan. Very nice :-) | User Comment Submitted by Motion on 27 May 2009
I enjoyed this, Jan. Thanks!

i told rambones on irc already, but here again:
to me this tune sounds very much like a jam session, some simple chords that repeat ad infinitum, plus some "solo" on top of it. its not bad per se, but as a "song" it doesnt do it for me. | User Comment Submitted by Linus on 27 May 2009
Yep, nice melody work indeed. The tune could have been better if you put more effort into the arrangement tho. "You have the moves, psycho ... ehrm ... rambones, but you need more discipline to carry an idea all the way through." | User Comment Submitted by macx on 27 May 2009
A new born classic. The melody is perfect for 6581 execution. | User Comment Submitted by Testa on 27 May 2009
nice melody rambones.. more of this please.. and maybe next time instead of the repetive backround something else but that is just me... great song! | User Comment Submitted by jailbird on 27 May 2009
Definitely a heart breaking melody... Playing for some time now and I'm really enjoying it! | User Comment Submitted by DRAX on 27 May 2009
What a sweet melody... Keep 'em coming! | User Comment Submitted by Stone on 27 May 2009
Very nice, Jan! Let's hear more of your melodic side :-) | User Comment Submitted by Stainless Steel on 27 May 2009
Technically not bad but i'm not a big fan of the repetitive background and the slow pace of the tune. Otherwise, what intensity said.

Beautiful work rambones, more like this please! | User Comment Submitted by Intensity on 27 May 2009
Hey Linus, did you check rambones' earlier leads and melodies once? I personally think rambones has developed fucking LOTS! I LOVE this tune, thanks for it jan! | User Comment Submitted by Leming on 26 May 2009
nice one Jan, at first I didnt like the begining but now its grown on me. Now its been playing for 10 minutes and I understand its a goodbye tune... more! more! |
