Technically top notch, but the face itself delivers an eerie feel of the uncanny valley. She looks like a b/w rendition of an alien character from Avatar. | User Comment Submitted by fenz on 15 December 2013 User Comment Submitted by Hammerfist on 14 December 2013
Beautiful, Leon! I agree wholeheartedly: art should not be limited. And if you make something beyond the limits of the C64, then it wasn't meant for the C64 :) Until that happens, though: keep 'em coming, this is great stuff! In fact, I'm feeling inspired because of this series of yours... I hope I can add my own ideas soon! | User Comment Submitted by Testa on 14 December 2013 User Comment Submitted by Glasnost on 14 December 2013
Definetely no need to apologize for it. I love it. Everything that has come out from you is a little piece of art. And when you want to improve, you need to take risks and be vulnerable in some aspect. Great work. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 14 December 2013

Leon, I really love your new style. Splendid! | User Comment Submitted by leonofsgr on 13 December 2013
First of all let me apologize to those who don't like this kind of GFX style and these pictures of mine. It took me long years to realize I can create and draw without converters and other "crutches". I got crazy about being able to draw whatever I can imagine in whatever style I fancy - pictures are born out of imagination and imagination is ought to be limitless and infinite...
Currently I really enjoy grayscale compositions with a hint of color - I truly wonder why I never used a "less is more" approach until lately. I fancy the more refined and noble past ages, the 1700s and 1800s, women with faces like romantic sculpture, and the elaborate costumes of the era full of grace and lace. This GFX style of grays matches that mood pretty well.
This picture is a study I performed on creating a realistic pair of female eyes without any photo references, entirely drawn out of my own imagination. The light lace of the fan was a great challenge to pixel, I tried to add as much detail as HIRES would allow for. It is a no-copy as well.
I would like to make more pictures like this because my imagination is full of concepts and ideas... Expect more and more soon...
