To be honest, I'm bad (terrible) at grabbing and using new releases (fear change, etc), so I've only just downloaded this and have been trying it out in work. Damn, should have done this when it was released because it's great! Yeah, yeah, I'm running under Windows, but I love the interface - nice and clean and efficient! Thanks to the whole team for the continued effort!

Of course you're right, testing the part on a real C64 is the best way afterall. But due a lacking parallel Port my 1541 Cable is not working anymore...but I'll find a solution. Maybe I use an old Laptop for that, I wanted to digitize my old codingdisx anyway since a long time ;)

Although there is no such thing as a "new" VICE version for me personally – as I tend to just compile the most recent trunk at least every 3 months – I take this release as an opportunity to say "thank you very, very much!" to the VICE developers.

Let's be real: VICE is the most important tool in the C64 scene and without it, the scene probably wouldn't be as huge as it is.

You guys rock! Thank you for all your hard (unpaid!) work on this project!

Viscid: tracking down what change between 3.2 and 3.6 causes the change in behaviour is quite a pointless exercise, as there simple were too many.

What you should do is test your demo on real hardware. And only when the real hardware behaves differently to the emulator, then report a bug.

Played with it a bit more and this really is a much smoother experience than the versions I have been using the past couple of years! Smooth scrolls, and especially the SID emulation! Thanks a lot for this update.

Hmm, just fixed the problem with the RetroReplay Cartridge (vice.log helped).

The thing is, now the demo doesn't run *without* the RetroReplay. Never experienced this before. On the old emulator (WinVice 3.2) it runs with or without Cardtridge... on the new one only with the Cartridge plugged in.. And yes, also the old "x64sc.exe" didnt have that problem.

So the timing or some new feature seems to be important on something. But I don't know what changed between those 2 emulators. Maybe someone has any hint? WOULD BE GREAT.

I can't attach any cartridges to the emulator (Retro Replay f.e.) and my new demo, which never crashed before, crashes after 7-8 seconds. Dunno why, have no cartridge ;(

Is there no native old windows-binary left for counter-check? Only SDK or GTK? Hmmm.

Great stuff. I have a MPB2021(M1/arm64) with Monteray.Thought I didn't have menus at first, when it started full screen, but by switching off full screen, the menus were there. The menu is not in the macOS menu bar at the top so that was the confusing in full screen mode. Also I think the shortcut for fullscreen on/off has changed to Alt-D?

To be a little more specific: I have the same configuration as Aeeben, MBP 2015, Monterey, and the GTK version does not display menu and is unresponsive. Vice opens in a big window with the C64 window using a small portion of it. No keyboard input is accepted, not even quit so you have to force quit the program.

Mac Intel GTK 3.6 works fine here — including both the menu and the keyboard shortcuts — on a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019), 2,6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7, 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 with MacOS Catalina.

Nice! The Mac SDL version works fine, but the Mac Intel GTK version seems broken and won't display a menu, nor will it accept keyboard commands.
