| Congratulations mates, I really like this little gem! I was waiting for something like this since the release of "I can't dance"! :-) | User Comment Submitted by CreaMD on 10 July 2011
I've composed/finished 5 new tunes in a very short time thanx to 1541 Ultimate II which I bought shortly after I agreed to compose the whole soundtrack for the demo. There is actually quite interesting story behind that.
I have contacted Gideon Zweijtzer, author of this ultimate C64 hardware at least twice using his Paypal e-mail. I didn't get reply so I forgot about that. But before the next Forever party, under the pressure I have decided to ask directly on forum. Only then I have learned/fully realized that there is/was a huge waiting list of users who preordered and prepaid the units. So It was quite rude from me to ask one sent exclusively.
Fortunately Neil Kendall, cool guy from UK, offered me a spare piece on the forum and I accepted his offer without hesitation. Paid immediately by paypal and got the package few days later thanx to great Royal Mail services.
I have also ordered a XE1541 cable from guys from Protovision shop (few days before I tried too get 1541U-II) who also sent it very quickly, funny trivia is, that Deutsche Post delivered few days slower. I actually didn't unpack the cable yet and din't test it (although I think it is also awesome, because it helps you to use PC <> 1541 drive transfer under Windows), because I immediately fell in love with 1541U-II.
I recommend 1541 Ultimate to everyone who needs total comfort with data "transfering" from PC to C64 and also for development. "Transfering" in quotes, because you actually don't transfer, share the media (USB key, or micro SD card which use FAT-16 for storage (if I remember right ;). It has REU emulation, multiple selection of cartridges (Final, ACtion Replay, Retro Replay etc.), it supports USB sticks and MicroSD cards (Imagine you can put whole GameBase on one media !!!). It has Stereo Sid Player emulation (not 100% accurate SID emu but it is still totally awesome. Built in Sidplayer is also awesome!!).
Btw. all 3 members of DMAgic have 1541U and it greatly helped us to develop this demo to presentable party version even with the limited ammount of time.
And yes, take this as an unpaid promo and product placement. Gideon totally deserves it: http://www.1541ultimate.net

There are some jokes in here that might not be understandable without additional info -> see production notes. | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 28 June 2011

| Nice demo for a bunch of squares ;-) Really enjoyed the multi-layer checkerboard and spinning portraits. |
