House Case/WEC

Created 1994
SEUCK/Sensible Software [1987]

Released 1994

Joy Port 1 - Take control of a typical B Movie cop from the 1980’s. Armed with only a baton, flashlight and slight weight problem, the aim of the game is to guide our would-be hero, investigate and find a missing female.

The inspiration behind House Case, to create a game, taking into account the limits of SEUCK, that took inspiration from various horror films. Think tacky, think B Movie, think bad taste. The cast includes Jason/Friday the 13th, Leatherface/The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jennifer Hills/I Spit on Your Grave, Regan MacNeil/The Exorcist, Lisa/SS Camp, Torso/The Fury, and various others including Butcher, Nazi Guard, Metal Ball/Phantasm.

The story begins in the street that runs in front of a large mansion. There were plans to have a cop car parked up complete with flashing lights. This idea proved far too ambitious, as it was difficult enough creating the various levels using as few characters as possible.

The opening level which takes place in the front lawn / cemetery to the Mansion, was originally going to feature street lamps leading up to the Mansion. This idea didn’t work out so well. Another idea was to include Freddy Krueger/A Nightmare on Elm Street. The plan was to have him with bizarre extending arms, spinning Knifegloves, wearing the usual black and red striped jumped. This idea didn’t work out either.

House Case appeared on the pages of Commodore Format 58 in screen shot form, but was not present on the Cover Tape. The result of spooky goings on, or simply blamed on a lack of space on the tape ?

This release of House Case features a non corrupt character set. The original release featured a corrupt character set as a result of the addition of music by The Ninja/Powerage. The music in this version was added by Richard/TND

The release complete with corrupt characters can be found here House Case +
