Summary
Submitted by hedning on 6 August 2012
"The first prototype of the game client that I developed was mainly for testing the game server and database. I had to design and develop a communications protocol for sending and receiving data between the client and server using packets. Of course, I also developed the input command prompt, map display, and text output windows as well. The project was a success! I have all of the pieces developed and tested that I need to build the entire RPG, and I have a pretty good idea of how to write the modules for the server and for the client that need to be written to finish the game for release to the public to try out.

I am working on the next prototype of the game client, which incorporates the program manager commands and routines, and the bioware attributes, which are loaded from the server using packets, a string parser, and 2D string arrays. Also, I have the movement turns routines ready to add, which support hops left, moves left, and move cost."

"Client will now work under VICE using Comet64 (V-1541.2400) RS-232 device settings without using tcpser!

Visit www.netrunner64.com to see the IP address for the game server. Use port 6400 for RS-232 device settings.
